00. Prologue
Morocco. A 12 years old red haired girl moves quickly through the crowd on a busy street of the city. Someone is calling behind her with a distressed voice: “Korah come back here immediately. If you don’t come back now you will regret it!”
A woman is holding hands with another girl, slightly older than the other one. Contrary to her sister she is quiet and looks in front of her with a serious expression.
She turns towards her husband: “ Pete, I beg you, go look for Korah. I can’t run with Maia here.” she tells him anxiously. The man nods and starts moving through the crowd.
In the meantime the young and lively Korah eagerly wandering, keeps looking at the colourful stalls around her with awe.
She notices a woman with her kids in a darker alley buying bread from a small window in the wall. She thanks the baker and leaves. Korah gets to that window and in tip toe she tries to look inside that window.
“Do you want to try it?” a calm voice behind her asks her. A flat bread appears right in front of Korah’s eyes and she promptly grabs it and bits it.
Happy, Korah turns around and looks behind her: a black long tunic made of fine decorations. A hand comes out of the tunic. The hand is adorned with beautiful golden jewelleries.
Korah’s attention is immediately drawn by the new figure that has just appeared behind her.
“Who are you?” she asks excitedly.
The young man smiles:
“If you want to know why don’t you follow me?” he says as he extends his hand towards the young girl.
Korah only thinks for a short second before smiling profusely at the man and taking his hand. As she does so, the reality around her is transfigured.
Marvellous colours and creatures appear out of the stalls and behind the passers-by.
A new world literally explodes all around. The man with the black cloak smiles behind the girl. It’s not a soft or gentle smile. It’s the smile that would have alarmed any other person that wasn’t the curious Korah.
“If you follow me and you won’t be afraid, you will discover new things everyday” the young man says.
“Then I will definitely follow you till the end of the world” Korah turns towards the man with a big smile.
