Chapter 1

When uncles hit the ground. Their secrets became mine. I was sort of living through them. Because I thought life was over for me.

They died all died. In some inexplicable manner as if someone was bumping them off. Look they all died of natural causes.

"When they have daughters that look like models?"

"Go away."

"When uncles were dead and we all cried and cried."

"Should have died too."

"Sorry I am too young and I am going to write and tell you that's my duty,"

"Look stupid."

"I have my pencil and I am doing it when did you get it into your head to kill the family in order to take what they all had?"

"When young."

"How young?"

"It was your auntie who gave me the idea."

"When she was carrying you to the toilet?"

"Yes."

"Good so that was when you were eleven?"

"Get lost."

"I am going to make sure those stories never get published. Do you hear me?"

"I believe in democracy daddy."

"Where did you get that?"

"I am not saying."

"Who gave that rotten idea into your head?"

"I have somehow got it."

"It is an illness."

Dad looked so revolted by my ideas he said he was going to the baths to wash.

He met people there whom he would talk to about having me for a wife. Unfortunately, he painted such a dire picture that nobody came. Some said I was too poor and some said she would never do for their families. I am not someone who is set upon nothing doing the thing was there was nothing for me to do but to follow the story.

Revulsion set into the worst woman friend I had. She said the thoughts were immature and she would write a better story and create a storm. Which she had.

When she wrote her stories was she suffering was her life in danger? Well, she said she had a minor infection. The Covid and everyone being infected made her infectious too. We all believe in her cold.

I had been tossed around like some stir fry and made into redundancies and life had been so hard. But did I complain? I am not complaining now. There is nothing but good worthy thought inside my head. I am spanking good.

One woman's story is very like another is it not?

Her blonde head was immaculate and she had expensive clothes on which she wore easily. That and the mannerisms made her perfection perfect. I just thought what the hell. I will put her into my stories and create more jumbled work.

You see this is part autobiography and some of it is part conjecture and the moment I am not making sense then it is when I lose the thread. Some years have passed many uncles have died and their lives are now the threat which is akin to my own. I claim the ownership to make them the sense which in their lifetime they did not have or want.

Money was their curse.

Uncles have married immature women who were involved in prostitution and uncles have been inside the whore house as dealers. Pimps and such like usual things which poor men do when they are lazy.
No one likes to work at all. It is disgusting to wear yourselves out. When the delights of the flesh and money come into being. They were quite satisfied with themselves and brought girls and boys into the world.
But mostly girls who gave them the opportunity to make important bargains. You see like for like sales and everything and the machinery goes on tick ticket tock. That is the ticket.
How many uncles have we here and how much do I get out of them? Their wives had something to say about that when the wives fled this earth. Dropping their h their children and grandchildren did the same.
Like it or not someone was bumping off our uncles and aunts. It did not matter to us as we did not live nearby. We thoughtlessly thought it would never happen. Dad was somewhat concerned then he showed us the incident of the carnage outside the café. I was most upset there was this car carnage and daddy woke me up and showed me the whole thing.
Did that happen to her as well? When she soundly sleeps in her bed and wakes to do her homework. When the housekeeper makes her tea and bakes her everything she asks for. I am not even allowed to have a room of my own. The things which the rich believe that they go through in life is this. They want everything and have to have that.
"Are they the new vampires?"
"Well, they must be."
It was out of spite or something? That the worst things in this world happen because people cannot live their own lives.
The woman chanting like myself stops as if petrified and silence ensues. That she had been chanting outside some big store and I stopped her chanting said something bad to her. I was so sorry to see her petrified. She appalled me somewhat. I did her wrong?
"Well it does not mean anything when the world has gone mad."
"Uncle number three has died."
"Good riddance he was a bad man." Said mum and then smiled. "That means?
"You will never understand money would you?"
"The pot is getting larger and larger for the likes of me." Mother would sigh as when she was alive.
She would sit in her chair and gloat that if her patience and her strength would allow she would inherit too. That made her so mad that we would inherit as well. The thing was she wanted it all for herself and her children. Not now we were not going to speak mother said she never going to mother us at all.
Throw the saucepan out and said that is that.
She had a small saucepan instead because that was what she needed. She had not gone senile? Of course, I am no doctor.
In the past, the family would visit to do perfect murders at our doorstep. And that is how we knew them that is how we got on so well together.
They would come to discover a flaw in the whole of the lot and win a job. Because they had to own a home or something because they on a honey trip.
"So they would kill for money?"
"No job too small or big as long as it pays."
He looked grim and did not even reply and we stood as the screams settled into moans and the whole crowd did nothing. Why I did not need this tomorrow school. Why did it happen what did it matter to him that I was blocked already? Dad was mad with the whole deal he just wanted to wake me up.
As this is a healthy thing to have a family of killers in the background. I am almost sedate by comparison. You see it is a lousy deal. It matters to me that the mattress is still there and me on top of it. Because they are thieves as well.
That we did not need this carnage of course we were being selfish and self-centered. Of course, the dealt blow was we did not know any better. We were humbled and numbed. My sisters thought it would make a good photograph for the papers. Pity they said they did not have a camera. Looking dreadfully cross.
The burnt-out man inside the car was suffering he was about eighteen and the woman was there too. Holding him in her hands after dragging herself and he himself towards each other.
I did not speak I was shaken to the core there appeared nothing for the poor couple to do. The woman had lost her legs and the man his heart was numbed and bleeding.
They died crawling towards each other. They died and did not speak like one last lost sigh and the man was kissed on the lips by someone with a grey coat and he did not want to be kissed. I think that finished the man off.
"Fuck it is too sad the way life treats you."
"Be careful now do not speak about this there is enough trouble as it is." Some rage held me close to the crowd.
My heart was young then and I did not know what to do. The neighbors just shrugged and went to bed.
"We stayed up till late having a peep." Said, my sisters.
Mother did not speak she was so silent as if scared.
"I think it is only wise I should remain not standing but.." I understood the kindly lady said it because we would be next. The sweet shop the little shops all scattered in that neighbourhood. All had lived there dogs years. I had not known that we were part and parcel of what had happened there.
I did not know what to say and left the scene the burning out ambers of the little world which was inhabited by the living. Is that in the morning they have to go to school and deal with the teacher who would speak down and torment the poor sod.

Is this normal teacher?"
