Chapter 1- Dean
Concrete lays below me, hard and cold. The dripping of water from a pipe slowly makes me realized that this is not where I'm supposed to be. Groggily, I sit up trying to take in my surroundings.
Why is it so dark?
Where am I?
I sit for a few minutes trying to backtrack the previous events and allow time for my eyes to adjust. Based on my estimated time, I waited for over five minutes and I saw no change in the dimness of the space. I waved my hand in front of my face, trying to see anything. Still nothing.
What was going on?
A throb in my head served as a sudden and painful awakening which made me jump in shock. Once the pain died down a bit I began to hear movement.
What was that?
Is someone else there?
Would they know something?
"H-hello?" I shakily called out. My throat was dry as the words slowly fell from my mouth.
Rapid shuffling from the new person worried me.
Who is this person?
What if they were dangerous?
If they were why would I be put in here with them. Unless...
"Hello?" A voice replied sounding terrified. "Who are you? I can't see anything. What is going on?"
With each word their voice rose in panic as they sounded on the verge of tears.
I didn't recognize the voice, but to me, it sounded like a female.
"I'm Dean. I also can't see." I said calmly in hopes of calming this person down.
It didn't seem to really work.
The person let out of little cry as if she were giving up.
"Who are you?" I asked to try to start a conversation and maybe figure some things out.
"My name is Amy." She said quickly in a way that showed she didn’t want to talk.
Great. I now felt more annoyed than confused. Even though I know Amy didn't want to talk I still pushed for a conversation.
"Ok Amy, what was the last thing you remember?" I asked.
"Shut up! I don't want to talk to you. I have no idea what is going on. I have no idea who you are. Do not try being friends with me. For all I know you're the person who put me in here!" Amy shouted.
I was taken aback. I know this situation is terrifying and people cope in different ways but to accusing someone who has only said two sentences to them of kidnapping them isn't right.
"Fine. If you don't want to figure this out then we can just sit here and rot." I shot back.
If she was going to be rude towards me I felt no guilt being the same towards her. As I sat in silence wondering what to do I began to hear crying. I quickly realized it was Amy and felt bad. She must be horrified. Waking up in a dark room with the only other person being a man that she doesn't know who just yelled at her. Granted she yelled first, but I could of handled myself better.
"A-Amy," I began hesitantly. "I'm sorry. I know this is a bad situation but we have to work together."
A long pause of silence. Amy had stopped crying and was probably thinking it through in her head.
"Well come on Amy. With an apology like that you have to say something." A new voice said with a British accent, sounding like someone watching their favorite TV show.
"Who are you." I shouted into the darkness.
The new person laughed as if this was a joke. "Calm down. Where was that politeness you had before?"
"It seems to go away whenever jerks randomly cut into a conversation." I replied. "More so whenever I have no idea what's going on and didn't even know the jerk was listening."
"Strangely specific." The voice said. "Any who I'm Neal and are we doing full on introductions or just first name basis?"
I stayed quiet to his question, trying to figure him out.
"I mean you do want to know what's going on, right?" Neal said.
I stayed silent. This guy gave me a bad feeling. Why does he sound so calm? Why didn't he say anything? Though he did have a point. If we wanted to figure this out then we had to know everything we could.
"Ok, we can give more detailed introductions. First I want to know how many people are in here." I said.
"There's six of us." Neal answered.
"How could you know that?" Amy said, still a little cautious and panicked. "Can you see?"
"No. Sadly I'm in the dark like the rest of you. I just woke up way before any of you and had a little feel around." He replied.
"Feel around? What does that mean?" Amy asked sounding worried.
"Don't get any dirty ideas. I just walked around the perimeter of them room and ran over five other people." Neal clarified.
"So are the other people awake?" I asked.
"They were earlier. They've been silent like me. Enjoying the show. I believe Amy was the last to wake up." Neal replied.
After a moment of pause Neal sighed, "well come on. Say something."
After a brief second someone spoke. "So the whole party is here." A voice laughed like he was remembering an old joke.
Great another insane guy.
"Call me Tye." The same voice said.
"I'm Trevor." A deeper voice said from the darkness. They sounded closed off.
"Fools." A feminine voice whispered. "You do realize we're meant to die?"
"Wow such a cheerful attitude." Neal said.
"Well it's true!" She shouted. "We obviously know nothing about what's going on. No idea why we're here. Do you think this is all a get together? No! This is an abduction. We've been abducted to sit here and rot while the person who did it get their kicks watching."
I heard a click from above followed by static. Like someone was speaking into an intercom, a new voice filled the space. "Now, now Lizzie. Lets not go assuming things. I don't wish for you all to die." The voice said with a deep, robotic voice changer.
"Who are you!" I shouted.
I didn't really expect much from shouting into nothingness but there are obviously microphones in here so this person can here us.
"Calm down Dean. I'm going to explain it all. Neal was right, where was that politeness you had before?" The voice said. "Besides, the real question you should be asking is not who I am but who all of you truly are.”
