As I step into the class I can feel the cold breeze coming from the window across the room. It's February so it's starting to get warmer. I walk to my desk. Third row all the way over to the left. I'm fine sitting in the third row. At least it's not in the front. I would rather sit in the back though. Everyone wishes that they could sit in the back. That way you could talk or be on your phone and no one would know.
"Hi, Lexi!" Says my best friend, Ashley Amindola. We've been best friends since fifth grade.
"So, how are things going with Nico?" She asks.
Nico Harrison is my boyfriend. We've been together for six months now. He's on the high school football team and everyone loves him.
"It's going great. Last night he came over to watch Netflix."
"Ooo! What show!?"
"Riverdale," I reply.
"Sounds romantic," she says winking at me.
"It totally was. He rapped his arm around me and everything!" I realize just how loud I am and try to quiet down.
"So... when are you guys gonna get married?" Ashley says jokingly.
"One day. Hopefully," Is my answer. Me and Nico? Married!? I haven't thought about it. I guess I would like to get married one day.
BRING!!!
My thoughts are interupted by the loud bell.
"Alright class take your textbooks out and turn to page 205. We're going to continue learning about the U.S. constitution." Mr. Rodgers announces. History is my least favorite class. It's so boring I can't even think. So I take out my phone and scroll through snap.
12 notifications.
I quickly take a pic and send it to my friends. Then I open Tik Tok. I look through that for a while.
I check the time. Only ten minutes have passed. How long can one class take!?
I look up to see if Mr. Rodgers has noticed. Nope. I look around the classroom. Everyone looks so bored. The only one that seems interested is Mr. Rodgers.
I go back to my phone and continue to scroll through videos. As I scroll a message pops up on my screen. It's a message from Nico. I open it.
Hey bb! I'm going to Cameron's party tonight. u in?
Sure
Alright! I'll pick you up at 9:00
Alright
See ya babe
see ya bb
LEXI!
I look up startled. Mr. Rodgers is looking down at me. His face red as blood.
"No phones allowed in class. That's a two hour detention after school." He says taking the phone right out of my hand. He walks back to his desk and places the phone in the bottom drawer.
"Two hours!?" I exclaim.
"Yes! Those are the rules," he says unhappy.
I slump down in my seat with nothing to do but listen to Mr. Rodgers boring lesson for the rest of class. Will this class ever end? I think to myself.
