Prologue
The polar bear is a sign of endurance, strength, determination, protection, and peace. Although the last one was something that always seemed to sweep through thick strong fingers.
The cold wild wind of the Alaskan winter was like thousands of needles piercing the skin, but not for the Apex Predator of this snow-covered world that was his home. A polar bear into the form of a massive man with grey eyes as piercing as the metal blades of his knuckle-dusters that were dripping scarlet blood. Each drop coating the pure white snow, tainting it with the scenario of murder.
He didn’t mind the below-freezing temperatures. He was into his element here with the blanket of snow covering everything, the biting cruel wind that made you feel like evil spirits were flying through your soul.
The polar bear’s tongue poked out to lick the blood off his canines and lips, a taste he was oh so familiar with, a taste that reminded him of survival. The taste and color clouded his mind with pure feral instincts that pulled his inner animal out. The taste that brought back to him flashbacks of the disaster, that morphed him into an iceberg of a man. Stoic, brutal, and brutish by nature. A complete opposite of his former self.
Akshay’s broad frame huffed and puffed with each deep intake of breath, a cloud of cold mist escaping his mouth, his eyes no longer that of a man, but the one of a predator... The apex predator of Alaska. He watched as rivers of blood coated the Alaskan tundra, the essence of life leaving the bodies of the poachers and loggers, all ripped apart like they were nothing but ragdolls. It was their fault... They entered his territory, his frozen Kingdom... And he was the KING.
They should have known not to mess with Mother Nature. He was the protector; a ruthless destructive and unforgiving polar bear, but a protector nonetheless. He was a nature lover at heart and Alaska was his home, his world that made him the man and animal who he is today. He was the Ice King, with grey hawk eyes watching over every tree and animal, a frozen warrior that would give his life in order to preserve the natural beauty.
The sound of a twig snapping and echoing through the winter air made the Alaskans’ ears perk up, and he slowly turned his body to look into the direction from where the faint sound came. Grey eyes locked with bluish-green of the snow bunny, who looked absolutely scared, her long blonde hair swaying into the wind, rosy cheeks from cold making her even more appealing.
Akshay’s bloody lips pulled into a snarl, his white fur coated into crimson, muscles flexing underneath white winter camo clothing that was a perfect epitome of a polar bear’s fur, making the behemoth of a man blend into the white Alaska environment with ease. A ghost of the frozen tundra. The Polar bear inside him was ready to charge.
“Liiiiittle oooooneeeee...” His voice was raspy and grave, almost like it was a challenge for the white-haired male to speak into the bloodthirsty state he was trapped in. The grey eyes no longer that of a man, but of the Alaskan beast.
“A-Akitta?” her voice was so soft, like a beautiful lullaby resounding through the snowflakes and he could feel his heartbeat increasing, just gazing at her gorgeous features a few feet away from him, thick fingers covered in gore twitched and he knew all control was lost... and he will destroy her.
“Run.” he growled, trying to hold back on the last raindrop of his humanity.
A dark telltale of how a polar bear and a snow rabbit cross paths and how these two souls connect in ways that words cannot describe their bond. An astral and magical connection under the Northern Lights and Under the Alaskan Moon.
