Chapter 1
Agyei packed the rest of the gari in his large Ghana-must-go trunk and sighed. He had been born for journey. Since his childhood, he knew it was his journey. His parents were born and bred Ghanaians however they somehow failed to prove citizenship so they were evicted from Ghana and settled in Burkina Faso, not a short distance from their village in Tiebele. Agyei's parents, Mary and Francis Sarfoe, had planned for his departure long ago. Besides, sixteen year old, Agyei was truly a messenger.
This younger sister, Atadwoa, cried helplessly and moaned. His father tried to hold back his tears but alas, it was too much. Despite this, his mother kept a straight face and said, 'Don't be hopeless for our only son, Agyei shall and will return for us'. Agyei bravely held posture and put his hand to his chest. 'I swear, by my grave, that I shall let you return as well,' he stated. And with that, and a hefty load on his side, Agyei set for the long road.
