Chapter 1
A little background of the character. Her name is Abarah and she’s from Spain. Her city is under attack from monsters somebody has released.
Abarah’s pov:
“¡Date prisa que tenemos que irnos a la cama!” (Hurry, we have to go to bed) my Mama told me as us as me and my sister rolled around laughing on the floor. Mama laughed at me and Sofia before lifting us both up. “¡Pero mamá, nos estamos divirtiendo!” (But Mama we’re having fun!” Sofia says following Mama to our bedroom. “Calla ahora Sofía. Es hora de ir a la cama. Sueñas con los Vengadores, ¿sí?” (Hush now Sofia. You dream about the Avengers. Yes) Mama says to us “Sí mama” (Yes Mama) we say climbing into our joint bed. Ever since the bad people started attacking our little village we’ve been praying that the Avengers would come and save us. The people attacking aren’t human. They’re strange creatures, alien-like with a nose like a wolf and body like a rat. They kill whoever they want no matter their age. “Sleep” Mama says. “Tomorrow, we practice English” she says getting the stuff for her to sleep on the sofa. We tell her goodnight and go to sleep to the sounds of muffled screams and cries as the people terrorise our sweet little village.
“Despertar niñas. Rápido ahora. Vístete y empaca. ¡Rápido rápido!” (Wake up girls. Quick now. Dress and pack. Fast fast) Mama says rushing into our room. “Mamá que no es inglesa!” (Mama that is not English!) Sofia says sitting up in bed. “No hay tiempo para inglés. Están a dos calles de distancia. tenemos que ser rápidos” (No time for English. They are two streets away. We have to be fast) Mama says cramming some things into our small bags. Me and Sofia jump out of bed and get changed before hearing the horrible growls of the monsters from outside the house. “Ven Abarah. Rápido. Ven aquí” (Come Abarah. Fast. Come here) Mama says holding her hand out. I go to grab her hand but get thrown backwards by an explosion. “Mama! Sofia!” I yell as smoke stings my eyes and burns my lungs. I cough as I crawl towards where Mama and Sofia were standing. “No” I whisper as I get closer to them. “Mama?” I say shaking her. She doesn’t move or open her eyes that are shut. “Mama!” I shout shaking her harder and harder. I glance over at Sofia who has clearly got a broken leg and a large cut on the side of her face. She was only ten and now she’s with Papa. I’m alone now. Me against all these monsters that want ‘peace’ and will not stop attacking until they are welcomed on Earth.
After sitting for an hour I grab the bags and shove them into another bag so they’re easy to carry and slowly head to the front door of the house. As I get closer I hear people shouting, not bad shouting, more relived. I open the door and hear people shouting “¡Los vengadores! ¡Vinieron a salvarnos!” (The Avengers! They’ve come to save us!) I rush out and look up and see a jet preparing to land. I rush over to where the jet is as the doors open. Out walks Natasha and Wanda and Steve Rogers. Everyone swarms them so I get pushed backwards and knocked onto the floor. I try to get up but the amount of people all going in one direction is like an ocean wave and I get knocked over again.
Wanda’s pov:
As we head out the jet the people who live in the village crowd around the jet. It’s a sad yet happy sight. Us Avengers can cause such hope in a village that is being so badly destroyed. It reminds me of back in Sokovia. As I’m looking out at all the people I see one small girl get knocked down by the growing crowd. As everyone is moving towards the jet she can’t stand. “I’ll be back in a minute” I mumble to Nat and head out to where I saw the girl fall. “Here take my hand” I say holding my hand out to her. Her small hand connects with mine and I lift her up and walk with her away from the crowd. “Where are your family?” I ask her. “Muerta” she mumbles. “What does that mean? Can you speak English?” I ask her. “Today was English day” she says as tears spring to her eyes. “English day? What does that mean? Can you tell me… What’s your name?” I ask her. “Abarah” she whispers wiping her tears with her dirty hands. I look at the girl in front of me, she must be twelve at the oldest and see she’s covered in what looks like soot. How would she…. Her house must have been the explosion we saw when we came closer. Poor poor girl. “Is your family…” I start but get cut off by Abarah “Dead” she says sadly. “Oh honey. I’m-“ I start again and get cut off. “You’re Wanda Maximoff me and my hermana love you! You and Natasha are my favorita Vengadoras!” she says slipping into Spanish as she gets excited. I smile at her cuteness. “How old are you Abarah?” I ask her. “Fifteen” she answers. “Is everything you own in that bag?” I ask pointing to the plastic bag that’s starting to split a little and she nods. “Mamá lo empacó justo antes de la bomba. Tiene todo lo que necesito en él desde casa.” She says to me. I must have a very confused look because she tries to translate herself. “Oh Mama pack the bag for us. It has my home things in it” she says and I nod. “Would you like to stay with us? Unless you….” I start. She answers by dropping her bag and throwing herself on me, tackling me into a hug. “I take that as a yes then!” I laugh as I bend down and help her pick the contents of the bag which exploded on impact to the floor. We carry all her things to the jet and sit down whilst Steve and Tony talk through the plan to beat the ‘wolf-alien things’.
Abarah’s pov:
After Wanda sits me down in the jet she passes me a blanket to keep me warm. “Who’s this?” Natasha whispers to Wanda. “Abarah, she’s just lost her mother and sister in that explosion we saw. I don’t know if she’s hurt or not so you might want to find out” she whispers back. I pretend I didn’t hear them talking and pull my legs up to my chest. It’s gone very cold and I cant stop shivering. “Honey? I’m Natasha but you can call me Nat if you’d like.” She says smiling at me. “I’m Abarah” I say and she nods. “Are you hurt?” she asks. “I don’t think so but tengo mucho frío” (I’m very cold) I say. She looks confused at me for a minute so I mumble “Cold” to her. She grabs me another blanket but as she’s placing it around me she stops. “Are you in pain Abarah?” she asks me. “No” I say yawning a little. “You’re bleeding honey” she says. “What?” I ask moving the blanket. I see blood soaked through my top. How didn’t I realise I was bleeding? “Can I check it out? Make sure you’re okay?” Nat asks me. “No it’s fine. It doesn’t hurt” I tell her. “It will hurt when all the adrenaline is out of your system” she says crouching in front of me. “I said I’m fine” I tell her. I know I’m being stubborn but I don’t want to be seen as weak, especially not in front of THE Natasha Romanoff! “Come on I’ll take you to the bathroom so the others don’t see” she suggests. “I said no” I reply crossing my arms. The movement makes me wince and hiss out in pain. “Yeah we’re going to the bathroom” she says putting her arm under my legs and the other around the top part of my back and she carries me to the bathroom bridal-style.

I really like this you’re a good writer! I really like the use of Spanish too :)
Hi! I recently came across your story and was genuinely impressed by how vivid and immersive it felt. The world and characters came across so clearly that they naturally sparked a lot of visual ideas while I was reading. I really enjoy creating art inspired by stories that leave a strong impression, and yours definitely stayed with me after I finished. You have a great sense of atmosphere and imagery, and it was a pleasure spending time in the world you created.
