Forward
From day one we are all assigned a Spirit Guide… Those sacred animals who watch over us to make sure we get where we are destined. We owe our lives to those spirit animals; we all know this. All of us in the Iroquois nation anyhow… The government never saw us as human beings; they always saw us as land to use at their disposal. We thought we could live peacefully with them, but we were wrong… We didn’t realize what they could possibly do to us. We were like little children new and unaware of the technological advancements of the world.
Long ago when the settlers came to this land, we made a contract with them that if they gave us 3 months’ accumulative health checks throughout the year, then they could have as much of our land as they wanted. They need only reserve a small section of land for us to use and own. We lived happily and harmoniously for a good time before they decided to try something on us. We didn’t think anything of it as it was a regular checkup that they normally provided as agreed upon. They came with their “Vaccinations” for the tribe, and we welcomed them as friends. We thought they were our companions, comrades; we thought they were helping us out… They were not.
As if overnight it happened to the tribe, some worse than others. We woke up and there it was, some of us had started to grow tails, or cat like ears, or claws… It was horrifying to see. You don’t know the kind of fear it causes when you wake up next to your spouse to see a grizzly bear lying beside you. Things were rough at first, we had to learn to cope with our new bodies and our new fusion with the spirit guides we were assigned. It was horrific once we learned that we were fused with the spirit guides we’d been a part of since life. That should never have happened; we disgraced the spirit realm when we did that. It was terrifying to think we disgraced it to destruction. They resided in a different plane and should have stayed that way. We should never have been able to “fuse” with these creatures of the netherworld.
Every tribal member has a unique and especially different Spirit guide, no one is ever alike. We each are specifically chosen by the Spirit animal and taken as a lifelong companion. It’s kind of like how a dog is loyal to their master, or how your soul is always there to guide you through life; it is that kind of bonded relationship that we develop with our Spirit Guides. They are just as special to us as we are to them, and we realize it is a sacred bond between man and god.
It was a difficult journey learning how to control the animals within us, and some never did learn. We had to control our people or we would be held accountable for murder… Maybe worse. The children were the hardest to control and took the most effort to contain their animalistic urges. We were always keeping a vigilant eye on them, but sometimes they found trouble anyways. It was never easy to be the chief of the Tribe, but I had a duty to fulfill and I had to keep by it.
Now as we are adjusting to the world we have to deal with, there is some of the tribe who wishes to destroy those who did this to us. To make them pay for their disregard of the sacristy between us and the Spirit Realm. They want to destroy their formula so no one can ever suffer the same pain ever again. Not only that, but they mean for there to be blood. This is their natural instincts that which lies within them, they may neither control it any better than a dog could stop loving it’s owner.
