Escape plan 0.1

‘I can be cool….I can be mean… I can be all that you dream…’

My phone's ringtone made me groan in annoyance. I loved this song but I hate the idea of someone disturbing my sleep. With a heavy heart, I opened my eyes and picked up my iPhone to see my best friend's name flashing on the screen.

Simone.

I answered the call and pressed it to my ear while rubbing my eye lazily and not ready to leave my comfy bed.

“Hey, Simone,” I said in a thick, drowsy voice.

“You gotta be kidding Le. Look at the time, it's 10: 30 already and you're still half asleep!” Ouch. My best friend's bitchy voice rang in my ears. He knew me better.

Though he had all the right to be mad at me. Yesterday he called me to remind me to get ready before 11 for the lunch meeting we were having with his mother. Yet I forget to set the alarm.

“Are you even listening to me? Hello? Le? Still with me?”

“Umm… yep! I'm here. And gimme 20 minutes I will meet you outside my house. Okay.”

“You better get dressed or I will drag you out of your house in whatever state I find you. And that's a threat.” I giggled.

“Fine! Cut the call now I have to get ready. Cya" I hung up the call and flipped my phone over the pillow before rolling out of bed and rushing to the bathroom.

I didn't doubt Simone dragging me out of this house in my PJs. Not taking the chance here.

Thankfully I had a few minutes left when I stepped out of my room dressed in a cute baby pink top with a sweetheart neckline which I bought last week and didn't get the chance to wear even once and denim shorts. I choose my white sneakers over the pointed heels which just never get well with my taste.

I had yet to inform my mom about my plans with Simone. I forgot to mention that to her earlier she was busy with preparation and I hated to be a reason to make her stressed more.

I stepped downstairs to look for my mom who no doubt was in the kitchen. The delicious smell of her cooking spilled her location to me. My mom loved cooking and feeding everyone. Home-cooked healthy food.

There she was standing in front of the stove with a spatula in her hand. Her eyes focused on the pan placed over the burner.

“Good morning, mom.” I went to her and kissed her cheek. She smiled at me.

“Good morning, baby. Where are you heading to?” She did a quick head-to-toe scan with her examined gaze and asked right away.

“I'm going for lunch with Simone and his mother. Are you okay with that?” I might be turning eighteen in three days but still, I have to ask for permission before going out. That was the rule.

“Lily… Simone is a good kid. And I know he is your best friend but you know today is important for the family. You can't go out today. I was hoping you could help me with the preparations. God! I still have so much to do and look how little time I have on my hands. How can you leave me alone? How am I going to manage all of this on my own? How?” That was my mother Melissa Brandon ladies and gentlemen.

“Breathe. Don't forget to breathe in between, mom. Jeez, you're worse than your television drama shows. Come here, have some water.” I shook my head like a disappointed mother while my mom was leaning toward the kitchen platform for support. Her hand was pressed over her heart and she tried to breathe normally.

I poured her a glass of water and she drank it silently before looking up at me guilty “Thank you, dear. You know how much I stress over everything."

“Yeah. We all know.” I scoffed. That was her fucking problem. Who fucking forgets to breathe!?

“I'm nervous! Today is so important for Marcus and the entire pack. Ryan is coming back home after two years. I don't know if he still likes my cooking or not.” Jeez not again.

“He will be the world's biggest fool if he doesn't," I whispered angrily.

“Shhh… don't speak of him like that! He is your big brother.” My mother scolded me for bad-mouthing her favorite son.

“Stepbrother,” I mumbled through gritted teeth, correcting her. She glared at me.

‘Honk!'

Thanks to Simone's perfect timing I was saved.

“I promise I will be back before dinner and don't worry about work. I will send someone to help you with it. Okay, mom bye bye. Love you!”

Before mom could come up with a new excuse to panic and chained me down at home, I kissed her cheek and dashed to the front door.

Then did I breathe in relief. I panicked when my mom started talking about a particular someone, I would do anything to avoid. Like breakfast with Simone's mother. Check. God knows how long this list would extend since from today on my bad timing was about to start. He was coming back. He? My stepbrother.

Though there still had some time for his arrival until then I had to meet Simone's mom.

She was an amazing person. A well-known businesswoman of the country. An idol for the young generation. It was just a difference in our perspective which showed me a warning sign for everything we met.

Standing in front of a beautiful matte black Harley Davidson was my savior. He passed me a million dollars smiles as soon as he saw me step out of the doorway.

“Look at you. Are you sure this is not a date?” Simone commented. He was wearing a band tee with denim and a leather jacket on it along with biker boots to complete the look.

I looked down at my outfit. Nope, nothing wrong. It's perfect.

I shrugged nonchalantly.

“Better you should care about your style, your mom gonna kill you before me.” I giggled. He scoffed at me.

Simone helped me wear my pink helmet which he bought for me on my fifteenth birthday as a present and had my name printed on it. In cursive letters. Whilst he was wearing a similar one in a different color. Matte black, of course. It also had his name printed on it.

Without wasting time I jumped on his bike's back seat and hugged around his abdomen to make sure I didn't fall and break anything.

“Let's get going.” I nodded though he couldn't see me.

Slowly the pack house faded into the background…. then the town and so on we were flying through the highway roads.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, allow me to introduce myself.

I'm Lily Marshall, A human-born who lived with a pack of werewolves just because my mother accidentally met a widowed man and that goes so far that they both decided to marry, or in their words, they found their second chance love.

Brandon, my step dad turned out to be the man who could turn into a beast who was also the head of the pack (a town filled with people like him. Yeah they could turn into that furry creature at their will.)

While I was having a hard time adapting to my new life, my dear mom was thrilled. She was always a sucker of shifter romance and living one turned dream that came true for her.

And to made my suffering worse I got a step-sibling who was annoying as hell at the same time hot as fuck. He left to study business which made things a bit easy for me but now that he completed his studies it was about time he came back home.

And my anxiety is eating me alive, I have no idea what to expect…

…..only time will tell.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
