Chapter 1: Welcome Home
Kristan could sense her energy was off when she picked him up from the airport. He didn't know why.
Allyson knew she shouldn't have agreed to pick him up but something in her wouldn't let her NOT come pick up her friend.
Allyson pulled up to the curb where she seen him standing with his bag and parked the car.
He walked over and opened the backseat and threw his bags in the back before hopping in the passenger seat.
"Wassup with gang" he said before leaning over to her with his lips puckered up.
"Nothing much" she said giving him a small smile, not making eye contact with him.
She reached in her back seat and handed him a brown bag. He opened the bag to a sandwich.
"You got me food?" he said to her looking at her stare at the road. "You were hungry last time I picked you up" was all she said as she kept her head forward.
He pulled on her hood, revealing her long black wavy hair.
"Why are you acting like this? What's wrong? What did I do?" he questioned her, but she continued to stare forward at the road.
Heading towards the East Bay, thoughts ran through Allyson's mind. She was fighting herself inside. She knew she shouldn't be with Kristian right now especially after their last conversation, especially after the way he just stopped talking to her and especially since he was always just texting her or calling when it was convenient for him.
When she finally pulled up in front of his house, she parked but hadn't turned off the car.
"Boo, you really not talking to me?" Kristian asked her sitting up in the passenger seat. She just twiddled her hands before sighing. Kristian reacher over and turned off the ignition completely. He gently grabbed her face turning it to him, she softly pulled away and turned her head the opposite way.
"Boo, what's wrong?" He asked softly. She shook her head gently and just stared outside the window.
"You know I'm not getting out the car until you talk to me." Kristian said to her
"Nothing's wrong Kristian. Go inside, it's cool." She said fighting the tears back. She didn't want to cry in front of him at all so she tried her best to hold it in.
She had been confused as to why he hadn't spoken to her in over two months. She knew that he was busy with football season and didn't wanna be a bother but he ghosted her.
In those two months of ghosting, she had cried and cried and cried. She didn't know why he had ghosted her but she didn't dare ask. The last time they had talked they had gotten into a little disagreement and she made her mind up that she would just leave him alone. He didn't seem to care but he was still communicating with her over social media. Soon that ended and he stopped responding to her in all.
She still cared for him and although he hurt her, she still responded to his text when he asked if she would pick him up from the airport to take him home. She didn't wanna leave him stranded although she knew that she was being blinded.
"What the fuck do you mean "nothing's wrong", don't fucken lie to me Allyson" he spat out taking off his seat belt and leaning back in her passenger seat.
She motioned towards the keys and was about to start the ignition when Kristian snatched the keys out her hand and kept them.
"Stop trying to fucken start the fucken car when you hear me trying to fucken talk to you Ally. I'm dead ass" He said.
Now, Allyson was livid. She felt her body crashing in on her and she laid her head on the wheel for support. She felt her chest so heavy.
Tears threatening to spill out of her eyes. She forcefully wiped them before he could see them.
"Kristian, please. It's nothing. Just go inside, be with your family." Allyson pleaded.
Kristian got out the car throwing her keys in his pockets.
It was about 11pm and Kristian knew his family would be sleeping already.
Kristian's POV
I walked over to her door and opened it. Her eyes looked red. Had she been crying? What the fuck was going on.
"Kris, please. Don't" she whispered softly. I gently grabbed her hand and led out outside the car. I could feel her fighting it for a second, but she quickly decided to just come with me.
I led her to my mother's front porch before unlocking the front door. I tried leading her in the house but she stopped abruptly and gently forced my hand off hers.
"We can't. I can't. I need to go home" she whispered.
I instantly bring her into a hug. About thirty seconds later I can feel my shirt getting wet and I hear her sniffing. I'm seriously so confused. What the hell is wrong with her. What happened while I was gone?
Allyson's POV
I didn't fight back because I literally was so tired. So confused. I didn't know how to bring up the issues without arguing with him. It was his first night home and I really didn't want to stress him out.
It was my first time seeing him since I dropped him off this past. summer. All the tears I cried, all the times he didn't respond back to my texts, ignored my calls, all the time it took for me to heal myself. To convince myself that I didn't hate him, that he was just busy with school and sports, all of that me-time ... everything I did was now being put to the test. Would this all have been a waste because he's here again and we now have physical access to each other again?
I couldn't let it happen. It took too much of me. He hurt me. I can't be stupid again.
As soon as he unlocks his mom's house, he guides me in but I stop abruptly and calmly move his hand off of mine.
I was caught off guard by the big bear hug he now had me in. I literally feel everything melt away. Every worry, every bit of anxiety, every bit of anger I had felt... slowly melting away as he held me in his arms.
I couldn't help but cry. After about what seemed like eternity, I pulled myself away from him and wiped my face.
Kristian's POV
She couldn't even look me in the eyes. She had acted like she hadn't been in my house before. I could see the hurt in her eyes. She looked sad. Like real sad.
"Ally, what happened?" I said gently pulling her face up. Her eyes filled with the sadness, I could tell she was hiding something.
She smiled before moving my hands from her face.

"May I have my keys please?" she asked Kristian. Kristian sighed before handing her the keys. He walked her back to the car so that he could also grab his bag that was still in her backseat.
They walked back in silence. She unlocked the doors and hopped into the front seat. Tears rolling silently down her face.
Kristian hopped in her passenger's seat and sighed heavily. "Ally, please. Tell me what's wrong" Kristian asked her in a soft low voice.
Ally shook her head no and forced a smile. "It's cool Kris, really. It's nothing. It was really good seeing you. Welcome home bud" she said softly, as they looked each other in the eyes.
He held her hands in his, their eye contact never broke.
"Ally, please. Talk to me" Kris asked, his voice heavy with confusion.
"Im gonna go home now, it's late." Ally croaked out breaking the eye contact and starting up the ignition. Kris reached over and turned the car off before grabbing her hands and placing them in his.
"Come inside baby. If you don't wanna talk about it now, at least just come inside and spend the night. I missed you so much while I was out there for school. I'm only back for a month, and you're the only person I wanted to see so so badly." Kris said to her, before putting her hair behind her left ear.
She looked at him and he saw the tears in her eyes. Confusion was on his face. He had no idea what the problem was and why she was acting this way. She smiled and the tears fell from her eyes.
"I really should get going Kris" she whispered softly before slowly removing her hands from his.
"I'm not getting out until we talk about it. You know this. We always talk it out. Sad, mad or crying.. we always talk it out before we part ways." Kris said before sighing and leaning back in the passenger's seat.
"I really don't want to argue with you." She said sighing heavily and leaning her forehead in her palm.
"I don't care if we argue, we'll be okay. We always are. We argue, we disagree but we always talk Ally." Kris said, his voice shaking.
Silence filled the car. Two minutes went by.. then five.. then thirty minutes.
By this time both Ally and Kris were leaned back in their seats. Being that Kris was still jet-lagged, it wasn't long before he ended up falling asleep.
Ally stayed awake though. 4:06 am her phone read. She opened up her instagram and went to her direct messages to view the message from an unknown account, that she seen earlier before picking up Kris.
When she watched the video again, tears formed again. She looked at Kris, asleep in her passenger seat, and her chest became heavy. There was so much emotion in her. She didn't know if she wanted to punch him or sit there and cry her eyes out.
The sun rose at 6:28am and Ally was still wide awake. Kris stirred in his sleep and finally awoke. Stretching out his body in the passenger's seat.
He looked over and seen Ally sitting up staring ahead. She had her hood on and didn't move one bit. It was as if she was in deep thought.
Both of them were caught off guard when there was a knock at the window.
