Chapter One
Zane and Lina looked around as they came out of the brown portal. They were in a large stone room. There was a flat-screen television against one wall and several surveillance screens on the other walls. There was a staircase that led down somewhere. There were couches facing the flat-screen television. A few doors led to other rooms. One of the doors was opened.
“Where are we?” Lina asked. She looked at Knight Samurai as the Knight came out of the portal. “Where did you take us?”
“We’re at the place we call our base.” Knight Samurai replied.
At that moment, Knight Dreamer and Knight Dragon came out of another room. “You’re here because we have decided to trust you with our secret identities.” Knight Dreamer told the two. “It wasn’t an easy decision to make.”
Knight Dragon looked at Zane. “You can’t reveal our identities to Fiona at the Andros Podcast Station or to the Federal agents trying to stop the Knights from becoming legal again.” He told Zane.
“I promise.” Zane said. He couldn’t reveal their identities without risking his younger sister being exposed as a Knight as well. “Now who are you guys?”
All three Knights looked at each other. There was no going back now. “Deactivate.” All three Knights Demon Fighters said. They transformed into Amelia, Nick and Henry.
Zane took a step back. “You two are Knights?” He asked Nick and Amelia. “You two have been fighting as Knights while working as reporters?” He sat down on a couch. This was a lot for him to take in.
Amelia nodded. “We’ve been Knights for the last few weeks.” She replied. “We were there when the Omnis first broke out. Henry recruited Nick and me during the first fight.”
Zane looked at Henry. “Who are you exactly?” He asked. He had never seen Henry around before.
“Like Amelia said, I’m Henry. I’m also Knight Samurai and one of the original Knights from ten years ago.” Henry replied. “This base is where I live. The clock tower has been in my family for years. It is also where the Knights from my first team and I operated from.”
“You were one of the Knights from a decade ago?” Lina asked. Henry didn’t look that old. She wondered how young the Knights were from a decade before.
“Yes. You’re the one who holds Knight Armser’s Knight Changer, right?” Henry asked.
Lina took her Knight Changer out as a way to answer Henry’s question.
Henry’s eyes widened. “How did you get this?” He asked. “I haven’t seen it in a long time. Not since the Knights were all a large team.” He still couldn’t believe that he was seeing it again.
“I found it when we were visiting our uncle.” Lina replied. “At first I didn’t know what it was and then I saw you three on the news.” Lina looked at her Knight Changer. “While I was trying to activate it, I said Knights and I transformed into Knight Armser. Zane helped me get out of my Knight’s form by saying Deactivate.”
Zane looked at Amelia and Nick. “This explains why you two always had to end the live reports rather quickly while doing them.” He said. “So you could join in on the action.” He wondered why no one had figured it out yet. Now that he thought about it, it made perfect sense.
Nick laughed a little. “Some times it was so we could get to safety before transforming first or if we had to hide because there was no good place to transform.” He replied.
“There is one other person you need to meet.” Amelia said. She turned to the open door. “You can come out now Hoot.” She said.
To Zane and Lina’s surprise, a robot came into the room. “It’s so nice to meet you two.” The robot said. “It’s been a while since I last saw this many Knights in one place together.”
“Who are you?” Lina asked.
“I am Hoot.” The robot replied. “I worked with Henry’s old team of Knights and now I work with the Knights Demon Fighters in their fight against the Omnis.”
“Now what happens?” Zane asked. “Are Lina and I a part of the team?”
“Yes, you two are.” Henry replied. “With Zane on the team, Fiona will be able to get the footage that she wants for the live reports and the Knights will have another fighter on the team as well.” As far as he saw it, it was a win-win situation for all of them.
