Chapter One
“Do you think that Fiona knows that we’re the Knights?” Amelia was asking while Nick and she were on their lunch break. It had been on her mind for a few days now since they had taken down Kokomo.
Nick shook his head. “There’s no way that she knows.” He told Amelia for what felt like the hundredth time. “Trust me, if Fiona knew who we really were, she would have announced it to the world already. Remember, Fiona is always looking for the next big story.”
Amelia knew that Nick was right but she still looked over at Fiona’s office. She could see their boss on the phone. No doubt Fiona was trying to get more people to join the cause in making Knights legal again. A cause that the F.B.I. was trying to shut down in any way that they could.
“What surprises me is that we haven’t seen any Omni attack for nearly a week now.” Nick then said. “After all, the first few attacks seemed to be happening day after day.” He thought for sure that the Omnis would have attacked a few times by now.
“Maybe Zenzar and Oceanus have finally given up and returned to that pit they crawled out of.” Amelia said. Part of her wouldn’t be surprised if that was true. After all, the Knights Demon Fighters had won just about every fight against the Omnis. The other part of her was hoping that it wasn’t true though. She enjoyed being Knight Dreamer and she knew that if the fighting was over, Henry could decide to take back the Knight Changers.
Zane joined the two. “Talking about our secret?” He asked the two before he smiled and sat down.
“Where’s your sister?” Nick asked. Ever since Henry, Amelia and he had found out Zane’s little sister was a Knight, he thought that they would be seeing her around more.
“She’s at school.” Zane replied. “Dad’s been on her case about school again.” He didn’t really want to get into the details.
“Does your dad know you two are Knights?” Amelia asked.
Zane shook his head. “Our uncle doesn’t even know we’re Knights.” He replied before he decided to explain. “But for as long as I could remember, our dad has been on Lina’s case about getting straight As’, being the perfect student and even the perfect daughter. Any time Lina tries to do something that our dad didn’t plan for her, Dad has always blown up and give her the talk.”
Zane hated that Lina was being treated like that but each time he tried to talk to their dad about it, their dad shut him down and refused to listen. He couldn’t go to their mom about the issue. Hard to when one’s mom disappeared without explanation.
Nick sighed. “That sounds rough.” He said. “What does Lina think about it?”
“She’s always acted tough and acts like it doesn’t bother her but she always enjoys being able to escape and be Knight Armser.” Zane replied before he leaned back in his chair. “She says it’s the only time she really feels like herself.”
“Fiona Leona!”
Everyone in the station turned to the main entrance. Standing there, not looking happy at all was Agent Domingo. He wasn’t alone. A few soldiers were standing with him. “Fiona Leona!” Agent Domingo shouted again.
“Oh great.” Zane muttered. “Of course Dad would be leading the agents here.”
Both Nick and Amelia looked at him. “Agent Javier Domingo is your dad?” They both asked. That explained why Zane and Lina’s dad was so tough towards Lina. He was the guy trying to take down the Knights.
Fiona came out of her office. “Agent Domingo.” She said in a calm voice. “Trying to force me to cancel any stories about the Knights and make sure no one makes them legal again?” She marched up to Agent Domingo. “Freedom of the Press ensures that I have every right to continue telling news stories about them.”
Agent Domingo glared at Fiona. “Those stories are staged by the Knights.” He told her. “They’re illegal and those monsters are just people in costumes helping them.” He shook his head before he looked around the podcast station. He was greatly tempted to shut down the place. “I can’t believe that you’re promoting false news.”
Fiona crossed her arms over her chest. “The only thing false around here is your belief that the Knights are evil.” She told the agent. “Now leave before I call the police and tell them you’re harassing my work place.”
“I’ll leave for now but I will be back Fiona.” Agent Domingo told her. “Watch your back.” With that, he left with his soldiers.
Amelia, Nick and Zane went up to Fiona. “Anything we can do to help you?” Amelia asked.
Fiona looked at the three. “Keep up the good work with reporting about the Knights saving the day.” She told them before she went back into her office.
