CHAPTER 1: the Nakoniwa Universe
"Okay Knux, I need a boost!" [SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, THE BLUE BLUR, THE FASTEST THING ALIVE] said as he homing attacked him, then [KNUCKLES THE ECHIDNA, LAST SON OF THE ECHIDNAS, GUARDIAN OF THE MASTER EMERALD] promptly grabbed the hedgehog and threw him at the mech, as Sonic added a hurricane kick for good measure. "Come on, come ooon…" [MILES "TAILS" PROWER, THE TWO-TAILED WONDER, SONIC'S SIDEKICK] said, hacking as fast as possible to override the Warp Topaz-powered Universal Collider's code. Knuckles leapt into the air and glided before landing a devastating hit on the mech, but was grabbed by the machine and thrown away. "do you pesky rodents really think you could defeat me this time? HOHO! Even if you defeat my mech, my Collider will already have finished processing! The Echo Universe is in arms reach, welcome to the Eggman Empire!" [DOCTOR IVO "EGGMAN" ROBOTNIK, THE BIG FAT MAN WITH THE MASTER PLAN, RULER OF THE EGGMAN EMPIRE] laughed. "ECHIDNAS ARE NOT RODENTS, WE ARE MONOTREMES, DECEIVER!!" Knuckles shouted before landing another devastating blow on the mech "ough, I actually felt that…" Eggman notes. "Tails, how's that overriding coming along…?" Sonic asks. "Not so good…" Tails reveals sheepishly, as Eggman attacked the two with lasers while they were distracted. Sonic narrowly dodged the first few, but got hit by the last two. "OOOOW, that stings! It buuurns…" he whines as Tails comes crashing down. "GET AHOLD OF YOURSELF, SONIC! You can shake off throwing yourself at titanium, so you can shake off a laser!" Knuckles shouts.
The two recovered in enough time to carry on battling Eggman, as Sonic zipped about Eggman round and round at light speed. "Grrrgh, why can't that blasted hedgehog hold still…?!" Eggman muttered. While he was distracted with trying to get Sonic at JUUST the right spot, Knuckles landed another combo of devastating hits leaving a good series of dents on the robot. "Come on, come on, so clooooose…" Tails said, pushing to override the code best he could, but it was made specifically Tails-proof. After Sonic doing rings around Robotnik, Sonic held still. Seizing the chance, Eggman tried to crush him with the mech's fist, but Sonic zipped off in time and ran up it's arm to the top of it's head. "Yoohoo, Egghead, up-top!" The fist then tried to smash Sonic again, leaving a dent in it's head worse than anything Knuckles do. "Down low!" Sonic said on it's foot, which the other foot tried to step on to smash the hedgehog, but again zipping away just in time. Finally, Sonic was at the Collider's centre. "too slow!" He said, as Eggman, acting without thinking, tried to hit Sonic and instead heavily damaged the Collider. But instead it actually scrambled up the code and redirected it to a random, normally inaccessible Multiverse, combined with the fight for dominance between the Warp Topaz and Chaos Emeralds. Realising he'd accidentally sabotaged his own operation, Eggman had had ENOUGH. But however, just before he could initiate plan B and send out Metal Sonic, just before Tails could finally override the code, JUST before Sonic could finally use the Chaos Emeralds Knuckles could land the finisher with him…the Collider had finished processing, opening up an inter-dimensional wormhole-rift to a universe of another Multiverse, and sucked everyone into it as the Chaos Emeralds scattered about in a diaspora. Trying to claw his way out, Eggman shouted: "I HATE THAT HEDEHOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooog…" so loud it echoed, leaving our heroes and villains stuck in a new location without any explanation and no time for relaxation…
"Tails, grab MEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeee…" Sonic says as the fox just barely misses him. Meanwhile, Knuckles was spiralling out of control but eventually got the hang of things and glided his way down as Tails followed. Sonic hit the ground with a large thud "OOOOUGH. Aooow…curse my lack of ability to fly…" he whined. "Tails, does your goober have any readings on where we are…?" "Firstly, it's not a goober, Knuckles, it's a GPS. And no, I can't find anything on where we are at all…this universe is almost completely unidentifiable, for now.." Tails revealed. "UNIDENTIFIABLE?! We could be stuck in this place for years! We've probably been gone for over a century back in our world right now! What about the Chaos Emeralds, or more importantly…the Master Emerald?! Rouge's likely gotten her claws on it as we speak…" Knuckles panicked. "Knuckles, get ahold of yourself! This isn't like you…I'm sure we'll be fine, this has happened to me, like, twice already. Probably thrice? But anyway maybe we can get some help from any of the locals, which shouldn't be too hard. I have natural peoples skills…" Sonic added. "I guess, but there doesn't seem to be any civilisations anywhere! No villages, huts, towns, cities, nothing nearby.." Tails pauses. "That's it! Sonic, you go look for any settlements nearby and let us know if you find anything!" Tails requests. "Alright, but I have a feeling people are just going to point and stare rather than actually help…" he says, zipping off.
10 minutes later, he came back with news. "Okay Tails, Knux, I found something! There's a city, though I think it'll take a bit long for you two…" he noted. So without further ado, the trio traversed their way to the City. "You know, I should've just taken you two with me first time…" Sonic complains "oh hush Sonic. You have to remember not everyone has super speed like you, like how me and Tails remember the fact you can't fly…" he'd snark. "Uh-huh, and how's your girlfriend?" Without hesitation Knuckles bashed Sonic's face in as Tails giggled. Along the way, Sonic noticed a man out in the woods, and then slowed down. "Hey Sonic, what're you looking at?" Tails asked as Sonic pointed and Knuckles stopped gliding. "Maybe he knows a shortcut or something!" "Alright then, but stay on guard…there could be trouble…" Knuckles adds. Sonic then approached the man.
He was middle-aged, and his clothing seemed to imply he was a farmer, gardener, or both. "Excuse me, but do you happen to know a shortcut to…" the man could only stare at the hedgehog in utter shock and disbelief. "You know it's kind of rude to stare, or at least where I'm from but could you please stop that? You're making me uncomfortable…" finally, the man spoke. "Perhaps I've been having one too many shots…" "okay…whatever that means, but do you know a shortcut or anything to any cities nearby?" Sonic asked. He shakily handed Sonic a map, pointed North. "That's a map of Chiheisen City. Just go 2 miles up North, right of the Great Wise Tree and to the train station. You'll be there in less than 8 minutes not counting the train" "Alright then, thank you." Sonic said, meeting up with Tails and Knuckles again. "Alright, I have a shortcut. 2 miles North, right of the Great Wise Tree, and to the train station, it takes less than 8 minutes!" "8 minutes seems a bit long for your attention span…" "oh quiet, Knux. Anyway, what're we waiting for? Let's go!"
