Annie Williamson is a young 18 year-old historian from the modern day, who is swept away to Muromachi Japan after a surprise encounter with creatures of myth and legend. There, 500 years ago in the past, she adopts a new name, Aki, and uses her knowledge to guide a young Akechi Mitsuhide through the events of history to come, granting him the advantage in the turbulent Warring States. However, as the years pass by and Mitsuhide matures while Aki remains unchanged, her feelings for Mitsuhide grow in the most unlikely of circumstance. She begins to question her purpose for having been brought to the past. Is she supposed to keep to what history dictated, by leading him towards the tragic death awaiting him in 1582? Or is Aki meant to save him? It is her decision to make.
