Chapter 1

Chapter one.

Today was the first day at my new school. I had no idea what to expect. I took a deep breath in and opened the door, the halls swarmed with people. I felt tiny and vulnerable for once in my life. I took one more deep breath and walked into the hallway allowing the doors to close behind me, I dodged people left and right until I got to my locker but there was another problem… someone was in front of it…

“E-excuse me.. That’s my locker… could I possibly get into it?” the man turned around, he stood just under 6ft. He had long pointy vibrant orange fox ears with pitch black tips, his eyes were a beautiful ice blue and the bright orange tail with the clearest white tip I have ever seen swayed behind him making the dark brown hair on his head lightly move with the wind his tail created.

He stood there for a minute just looking at me before he nodded his head once, he slowly moved past me and out of sight. I lightly shrugged my shoulders and opened my locker, just as I had finished sorting it out the bell rang for first period. I looked at my timetable… Math. great.

Sighing I headed to the room, I entered slowly and noticed everyone was already in their seats. I felt my face heat up big time, I took a sharp breath and looked over the rows and rows of students that sat there staring at me.

“Ahh miss Dervo! How nice of you to finally join us. You can sit beside…” he looked down the rows of students till his face lit up like a light bulb. “Kerry! You can sit next to Kerry. Miss Montgomery please raise your hand.” suddenly from somewhere in the middle of the crowd a long lean hand shot up.

I followed the hand down a skinny arm and to a red headed girl, i slowly made my way towards the girl and began to notice features that could not be seen from so far away. Her hair ended mid way down her back, her golden eyes like the sun scanned my 5ft 3inch frame. She had large black wing tucked behind her… a raven. She gave me a kind smile as i sat beside her, thankfully she was quite throughout the whole class.

As the bell rang signalling the end of first period i saw Kerry stretch beside me from the corner of my eye. She turned to me and waited till i turned back, i gave her a quick glance and looked towards my lap.

“Kinda shy aint ya? Ma name is Kerry-thorn Montgomery!” she held of one of her long lean hands out to me, I gratefully took it shaking it a little before fully turning to her.

“I'm Luna Dervo” I heard her gasp.

“As in Dervo café?!” I gave the gushing girl a quick nod not giving any eye contacted.. “You girl are now my bestie, deal with it.” I gave a little giggle as we stood up and walked out of class arms linked. Kerry wasn’t much bigger than me I believe she stood at 5ft 5 inches, as we walked down the hall to our next class i saw him. The fox from this morning. He walked alone down the hallway, earphones blasting music out but i couldn’t hear it clearly. He glanced my way before taking his eyes back to look where he was going.

“I wonder if he’s hot.” I gave a quick look to Kerry who like me was looking at the back of the walking away figure. “You know he always walks around in jumpers and never talks to anyone.” I gave her a questioning look.”

“You know him?” was all I could ask as we carried on walking down the schools hallway to history class.

“Yeah, his name is Cameron Wilson, he’s in our year. I’ve known him since primary school but since he came here he’s never really had many friends. I’ve tried talking to him but it’s just so awkward… maybe he needs a cute little newbie to get his tail shaking.” she nudged me in the side lightly with a heartfelt giggle that echoed through the nearly empty hallway.

“No way I’d be so awkward trying to talk to a new guy haha.” she shook her head as we entered through the classroom door.

“Come on you can sit with me again.” i gave her a large smile and followed after her.
