I was sat opposite Blake, we stared at each other, neither of us speaking.

I didn’t know where to start.

“I’m glad to see you’re alive,” Blake said. His eyes looked me up and down, taking in all of my injuries. I was lucky, not everyone was.

“I bet you were also glad to find out your brother was alive,” I said.

Blake’s eyebrows twitched. “You know about Dominic?”

“I’ve met him actually,” I told Blake. “He was under the impression that Rob had you captive, and if he didn’t do as Rob said then you would be harmed.”

“I’m sorry,” Blake said. “For everything that happened between us. I was just trying to keep my brother safe.”

“Blake,” I said and sighed. “I understand.”

Blake raised an eyebrow. “I wasn’t expecting you to say that.”

“How long had you known about your brother?”

“I found out a few weeks before the mission started. I was doing some snooping, trying to find out more about the person that attacked you. I stumbled across something I wasn’t meant to see. Information about Dominic. Rob had trained Dominic to the highest standards. Dom was Rob’s private killing machine, but he had also found out about me and had turned on Rob. Rob was using me to control Dominic and when I confronted Rob about it, Rob then threatened Dominic to keep me in line.”

“Shit,” I said.

“I wanted to be on your side, but I couldn’t risk Dom’s life. I had to choose Rob.”

“Yeah, well, Eli shot him so he’s not a problem anymore,” I said casually.

Blake blinked. “I can’t tell if you’re joking or not.”

“I promise you, I’m not laughing,” I said. “We actually beat him. Jasper and Eli nearly died, but we got him.”

“Are they okay?” Blake asked.

“They’re recovering.”

“Are you okay?”

“I don’t know what okay feels like,” I admitted. “Time will tell.”

“What are you going to do?” Blake asked. “What’s going to happen to The Agency?”

“Richard is sorting it all out. It’s none of my concern anymore,” I said dismissively.

“What’s going to happen to me?” Blake asked.

“You’re free to go,” I shrugged. “Richard wants to talk to you. He’s giving people the choice to live a normal life or join his Agency. I’m sure he’ll be asking you that question.”

“What do you think Beth and Dominic will do?” Blake asked.

“Why don’t you ask them? They’re outside.”

Blake’s eyes widened. “Shit, really?”

I nodded and stood up. “I’ll let them in.”

“Daisy,” Blake called as I walked to the door. I looked back at him. “What are you going to do?”

I took a deep breath. “I’m still figuring that out.”

I stared at Eli as he thought through what I had told him. He was still battered and bruised, but he had been discharged from the hospital. “I think you should go for it, princess.”

I raised my eyebrows. “Really?”

Eli nodded. “Yeah. You’ve patched us all up enough times, you might as well get paid to do it.”

“Do you think I can do it?” I asked. “All I’ve ever known is this life.”

“That’s all I’ve known, but we’ll figure life out as it goes along. I have complete faith in you,” Eli said. “We deserve a fresh start.”

“I agree,” I said. “Richard and Jasper won’t be happy about me moving away.”

“I think they’re just relieved you still want to be in their lives,” Eli said. “They won’t care where you are as long as they know they can be there for you.”

“I still can’t believe this is happening,” I admitted. “It doesn’t feel real.”

“Well it is, princess,” Eli said and stood up. He took my hand. “Let’s go tell your family your plan, and then let’s get the hell out of here.”

“University?” Richard repeated. We were in Jasper’s hospital room, telling them our plans for what we were going to do.

“Yes,” I nodded.

“To do what?” Jasper asked. He was weak but alive.

“Paramedic Science,” I told them. “I’ve spent my life killing innocent people. It’s time I save some lives for once.”

“I think it’s a brilliant idea,” Richard smiled.

“You saved my life,” Jasper said. “I think you’d be ace at it.”

“We won’t be staying here,” Eli said. “We want to getaway. Start fresh.”

Richard sighed and nodded. “As long as you keep in touch and let us know where you end up,” he said to me. “I’m not losing you again.”

“I’m sure I can manage that,” I said. I looked at Jasper. “What are you going to do?”

“Heal,” he said. “And then I back killing the real bad guys.”

“This Agency is doing good,” Richard said. “We aren’t corrupt. We don’t kill for money. We take out the cancer in this world. I’m going to continue running this Agency, and I’ll let anyone from Rob’s Agency join mine, but we will only ever kill those who deserve it. We will never ever take an innocent life.”

“I’m glad to hear that,” I said. “Eli and I better get going. We’ve got some goodbyes to give to the guys, and then we’re going to head off.”

“Where will you go?” Jasper asked.

“We’re not sure yet. From now on, I’m saving lives. I’m not spilling another drop of innocent blood. That part of my life is over. It’s time to try something new. Wherever we end up, we’ll let you know soon enough."

“You better, little sister.”
