The Battle of Waterloo

Both the pandas were having a sound sleep and dreaming about the epic Saturday they had until the alarm blared the tune from the song, ‘cradles’, and disturbed their dream and peace.

The alarm managed to win partially because its blaring went in vain in Anoo’s ears. She was sleeping like a newborn baby who is yet to open her eyes. Anu got up frustrated because he was awake at 4:45 AM, that too on a Sunday, while half of the world is still dreaming. However, all his frustration disappeared after seeing his sleeping beauty. He was gazing at her face like a father who got to hold his newborn baby girl for the first time. Her eyes sparkled even though their lids weren’t open; he gently kissed her forehead. Seeing her sleep made his mind stress free and freshened up his day already, but he had to wake her up.

“Please, God! Give me the strength to wake this charming little girl.”

Out of nowhere, Anoo sleeptalked, “Yeah, I am Single, my boyfriend broke up with me, that’s why I was alone on the stage” [...] “Sure, Let’s meet for coffee.”

Anu thanked God for giving him strength instantly; he took the jug, saw her peaceful face for one last time and poured it on her. Anoo got up with wet hair and looked at him with full rage.

“What?! Got to see the sunrise, remember! I don’t want you to break up with me,” Anu chuckled.

Anoo didn’t say a thing, but her face lost all the peace, this implied, WAR. She took the jug in silence, splashed the remaining water over him and laughed like a maniac.

Anu wiped and said, “You are so dead!” as he threw a pillow right at her face.

Anoo fell due to the impact and got up to throw it right back at him.

This is our pandas' usual morning workout.

Finally, both agreed to sign a truce and started to get ready for their bike ride to Maula Ali. Anu checked sunrise timing in the "PhotoPills" app, and it showed there were still one and a half hours left for Sun to leave its comfort zone. He also checked the weather forecast to know will it rain, but it said the sky’s clear. So, clearly, there’s no excuse for Anu to hit back his bed. He sighed and washed his face once again.

“See how wet my hair is! I’ll catch a cold if I go out with this head. It’s all your fault,” Anoo shouted from the bathroom.

“Sorry, dude. If that’s the situation, can we postpone this to next week?” Anu acted as if he was sad.

“No problem, even if I catch a cold, I can enjoy passing it to you, so we are definitely going.”

“Wow! What a kind-hearted girl!”

They both got ready and came to lock the door. Since it was pretty early in the morning, the weather was quite cold. So, Anu took his jacket and noticed that Anoo was coming without one.

“Don’t expect me to be heroic. I will not give up my jacket and stand out there in the cold. I am not Jack from Titanic,” Anu said.

“Don’t worry, I am not Rose either. I can manage the cold, you can have your jacket. Mine got torn after I tried to wash,” Anoo sighed and coughed (part of her act). Poor Anu handed out his jacket, thinking it was real. “Thanks, Jack,” Anoo smirked.

Anu went and sat on the back seat of the bike in anger. Anoo understood that she had to drive and was actually happy about that. She was struggling to fasten the chin strap of the helmet. Anu noticed and tried not to care, but he couldn’t stand it any longer. He swiftly pulled her, fastened the strap, and then continued to be mad. Anoo grinned as she adjusted the bike’s rearview mirror. It showed Anu’s face, over which it was written, ‘Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear.’ Anoo murmured, “I know,” and blushed. She ignited the engine, and they started their ride towards the sunrise.
