Prologue

Age of Emperor Argon 30th June, Year 161

‘I hope you enjoy Greltheaven, little brother,’

“Master Silver, we have arrived at Greltheaven,” said Hendriks as he shook me awake, but even after waking up, my brother’s words rang in my ears.

It was no dream but a reality.

‘I will have my revenge, you bastards,’ I thought before turning to the small city by the river. The place where I will live, all thanks to my dearest siblings, who will pay for what they have done to me.

I cleared my thoughts and looked at the city, and I have to say, it is truly beautiful. It is a newly built city, so much so that it hadn’t been formally inaugurated.

This is Greltheaven, named after the fourth prince of the empire Grelt; he built the city in two years, spending a colossal amount of money.

It is a huge risk, as there is a high chance it will be destroyed, but if it does not, even if it lasts for ten years, it will bring him enough riches to support his ambitions.

“Grandmaster Raldin deserves all the praise in the world; the city he had built is truly beautiful.” Said Hendricks with a voice filled with awe.

The city had a long and wide inland port that could become even bigger when developed; behind were the thick white walls that looked like they were carved out of marble.

They looked beautiful and delicate, but the looks could be deceiving; the walls were enchanted with powerful wards that could even stop multiple meteor spells cast by level 30 mages. I have heard they did the trial a few months ago, and the walls held on without much scratch.

Though, I think this might not be true, at least not completely.

The city could be seen behind the walls, and it was beautiful; it had tall, beautiful buildings built in different styles in the empire.

Our ship floated through trollmouth river and soon stopped at the dock; a few minutes later, we walked out of the ship into the busy port. The city will be inaugurated in a month; many people are coming here; some are to stay, some are tourists, while some have a completely different purpose.

Soon we reached the carriage that was already waiting for us; he was a man who looked to be in his mid-sixties, with sandy brown hair.

“Mister Silver,” he greeted as he took our bags from the porter and loaded them into the carriage swiftly, before opening the door for us.

A few seconds later, we sat comfortably in the carriage, and it began to roll.

I watched the port through the glass window, and I have to say, I was impressed seeing the archaic beauty, much different from the modern ports of the earth, which are filled with heavy machines.

There is also magic in nearly everything, from the laborers carrying the goods to the driver driving this very carriage are using magic. I could feel the driver had activated a couple of his skills for our comfort and smooth driving through this crowded port.

It had been three years since I came to this world, and I still get surprised by how the classes and skills are rooted in people’s lives, in the whole civilizations of the world.

There is a popular saying in this world. ‘It is classes that make us,’ and it couldn’t be truer. It is due to my class; I have to come here.

If I had not received the class I have, I wouldn’t have come here, even thrown away the scrap my brothers had given me, but they had made thorough preparations. They have made sure I come here and stay here for the rest of my life.

A fitting end for the bastard, they said.

They have got everything while I got scraps; it would be fine if I had gotten scraps, but they have interfered with my class, my base class, which I could not reject.

Once again, I calmed myself and focused on the city; the carriage had passed through the huge gates of the port, and now it was rolling through the perfect cobblestone street, which was wide enough that several of the carriages could ride at the same time comfortably.

As the carriage rolled through the city, I saw beautiful buildings in various architectural styles; every building was perfectly designed, from small to biggest.

Looking at things, it is very clear that the prince had grand ambitions for the city, which is good because now it is my city, and I want it to flourish, as it is good for business.

Sigh!

I couldn’t help but sigh when I think about the business; those bastards have thrown something at me that I had no interest in and is a business that is not considered respectful, but it is mine as it is connected to my class, my base class.

‘They will pay,’ I said in my mind once again.

Soon, the carriage had reached the entertainment district, which had hotels, casinos, and everything; many business houses in the empire invested in the city, not because they believed in the city’s future, as most of them thought it would be destroyed within a decade, but because of the fourth prince, who is a strong contender for the throne, and nobody wants to be on his bad side.

So, many have made the token investment, like my father, which benefited both sides. The prince got the investments he needed into his new city, while business houses got some time before they needed to pick the sides in the war of succession, which would surely begin in a few years.

Soon, the carriage slowed down and stopped at the gates of a beautiful mansion.
