It was a very well thought out book, however I would've liked a bit more details and back stories for the characters. The story seemed a bit rushed (only ten very long chapters) .. I would suggest splitting the chapters up so you have more room to wiggle as far as deepening the plot goes. I think the characters were for the most part, intriguing... though the ones I only truly liked were Dylan, David and the one girl from school who stood up for Dylan to all the ones who wanted to hurt him.
Read the story now
I love how each chapter keeps you wanting more. I finished the entire book in one day because I needed to know how it ends! :)
The only thing I would say, is again, try to give more back stories to the family and why the mother and son Jack, act the way that they do. It's clear they have some sort of mental imbalance, but nothing is ever explained in detail.
I know you've stated you aren't going to do a sequel, which is fine, but maybe rewrite the last chapter to explain what all happened to Jack, what his sentencing was, etc. Maybe even allow Jack to tell his cellmate that he is actually the half brother of his son Dylan.
Anyway, I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read more from you. Keep up the good work!
