“I didn’t need your help. I told you, I can handle myself. I already took care of one of them.” I vaguely recall spraying the one in the face with my pepper spray that still rustles around in my pocket. It gives me pride to know that I did manage to hurt at least one of them.

The next moment happens in the blink of an eye. He has his hand wrapped around my neck and my body pressed back against the dimly lit wall next to us. If there were people around, they would probably call the police. But there isn’t anyone to witness what he does to me. That should ignite me with fear, but in fact it does the exact opposite. Is that worse?

Once again those strange sparks shoot through my body and I instantly relax into his grasp, as if I belong this close to him.

“Can you handle yourself now Elara?” His voice is low and deep, his lips close to my ear.

Sinopsis

A los dieciocho años casi pierdo la vida, hasta que un misterioso extraño de ojos rojos como el fuego apartó a mi atacante y desapareció antes de que pudiera comprender lo que me estaba sucediendo. Pero cuando una amenaza contra mi vida resurge, él regresa... y mi salvador se convierte en algo mucho más que un fantasma de mi pasado. Me arrastra a un mundo que jamás creí real, uno gobernado por magia, monstruos y secretos que él se niega a compartir. Todo lo que quiero es sobrevivir el tiempo suficiente para encontrar el camino a casa. Pero cuanto más tiempo permanezco aquí, más temo que el destino y mi corazón tengan otros planes.
