This continues the story of Perdition’s Reach and Gemini Rising...
It is January 8th 1020 AE (After Earth), 1 thousand and 20 years after the destruction of the Earth in the year 2042. The Earth sent a million survivors to the world of Erdos to restart humanity. But as with all humans, instinct nearly prevailed. Because of this, humanity almost went extinct due to a catastrophic war. But in the end, it took a band of heroes and an alliance of many factions on Erdos to restore civilization to what it was meant to be. Over the centuries, discoveries and technological marvels propelled humanity to the stars once again. Humanity colonized the planets in the 61 Cygni Binary star system along with their moons. A planet in the 61 Cygni B system called Mercia, was nearly identical to Earth in size, atmospheric composition, geological activity, and gravity. Humans on Mercia saw this as the true home of Humanity instead of Erdos. Despite thriving on Erdos for a thousand years.
Unfortunately however it is human nature to feel right against wrong, dominate and hate prevailed even after 1 thousand years of relative peace. One scientist named Larry Heidelberger believed, the stronger gravity on Erdos has allowed people to slowly evolve. Many dismissed his theories out of hand specifically scientists on the human colony of Mercia... Others wanted to shut him up entirely, specifically the order of The Purified Blades, stationed on Mercia... He was reported missing not long after his paper titled, “The Erdos Condition, Human Evolution,” was published. The change however wasn’t noticeable unless you lived in Mercia.
On Mercia The similar size, atmospheric composition, and plate tectonics allowed for an explosion of complex life to evolve even if there was no native intelligent life. It has the same mass, composition, and is nearly visibly similar to Earth, with continents, Polar caps, and vast oceans. The planet of Mercia was divided into 4 moderate sized continents. Haakon, Acker, Valetoria, and The Murtland, with The Murtland being home to the Capital. The colonial capital of Mercia is Lorish City. Mercia is more like Earth than Erdos ever was. However, Erdos being somewhat larger, allowed for humans to evolve differently than those on Mercia. With the news of Erdos providing an evolutionary edge to humans living there. It didn’t sit well with the colonists on Mercia. Because of this. Agents of a secret order known as the Purified Blades seek to prevent any kind of evolutionary edge that Erdos had over its planetary rival Mercia.
The blades, are an ancient religious order of Assassins and followers of Astrid Bush that were established after the fall of the Crimson Empire. The goal was to ensure the legacy of Astrid Bush, John Forbath, and Peter Voronkov live on. To them, Astrid Bush was a martyr of a set of ideals and ideology of a perfect order. To them, John Forbath had ascended into incorporeal existence and lives on in the most devout of Crimson Followers. To them, Peter Voronkova was the father of the Crimson Order and court of Astrid. There are Mercians to this day who worship them as Gods. They see the Miller Legacy as a stain on the existence of man and need to be wiped out. The blades believed in a Perfect order. They felt the diverse culture of Erdos lacked Order, and thrived on cultural chaos.
With their ethos, the order seek to squash any kind of evolutionary trait that any suspected Erdos individual developed. While some Erdos doctors called it Evolution, The Purified Blades called it... Impurity.” They kept blood samples of each one they killed. That is when they realized... There is another out there on Erdos. It wasn’t until recently when the Blades realized, that in order to combat this greatest threat to their order and ensure millennial dominance over Erdos and the people. They needed the genetics of the evolved because they are the key to building the perfect serum for ultimate human. Mercia, a planet in the 61 Cygni B system, had been colonized by those who feel they wanted a better life than what they had on Erdos. In 500 years time, it became a safe haven for those rejected by Erdos for crimes, and fanaticism. Both Erdos and Mercia have colonized their respective systems. Mercia’s most populated colonies included Titania and Oberon. Vasir is their research colony and outpost.
Erdos on the other hand has colonized both its moons, Castor and Pollux. Prometheon is their most populous colony despite being comparable to Mercury. The main authority on Mercia is the Confederacy, and the elite arm of Mercia is the Order of Purified Blades. A fanatical order that believes in the law of The Book of Astrid. They strongly believe Astrid will return reincarnated to lead their people and rebuild the Crimson Empire, but this time to cover every colonized celestial body in the 61 Cygni binary star system.
Fast forward to 20 years ago, A young girl named Alysia grew up in a place called Pitt Novus, named after her prominent ancestor’s Ancestral home of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. She lived in relative peace up until after her 16th birthday. That is when her life was turned upside down. With an IQ of 170 and her desire to explore her ability to run faster than any human alive, longer, and stronger than nearly every man on both Mercia and Erdos, She became a target of Mercia. When she was found. Mercia’s plan was set in motion. Like Cicadas, Mercian agents woke up from their hiding place among key places of power, and struck fear in the heart of Erdos.
On Erdos, it is up to Lu’an, and her allies to save the republic. Unfortunately due to all the damage done in orbit of Erdos, Erdos is now considered a prison. No one can escape or land there due to the damage in orbit acting like a meat grinder for ships. This is called the Kessler syndrome. In space, It is up to Alysia, Victor and their group aboard the Conestoga to try and repair the damage in time to rejoin the war effort, because Kolya isn’t gonna wait. Mercia, who is Led by Boris Kolya, and Katerina Kudrova, intend to turn Erdos into a subservient Vassal state answerable only to them.. Erdos cannot respond from its homeworld due to the Kessler syndrome.
With Prometheon wiped out, and the Lagrange stations destroyed. The only Erdos aligned colonies that stand between Mercia and total victory are Castor and Pollux.. With Erdos gone dark, their infrastructure completely destroyed, and their greatest marshal dead, they are in chaos. Finally The Erdos Civil war had just begun and the newly formed Night watch under the direction of Director Katya Drunski, hopes to tip the scales in favor of Lu’an’s Allies however few there are left.
