PROLOGUE
I’m neither superstitious nor religious. This world is controlled by Man and no one else; that’s what it is. At least, that’s what I believed until the Oil City Police recruited him.
I still remember the date... November 2nd, 2038.
I looked at the three men standing around me in the dimly lit dilapidated motel room located in the middle of nowhere. One of them, positioned next to the electric switch that decided my faith.
"N, just tell us and all this will end. Stop being so stubborn.”
I chuckled painfully, but it really was funny. After everything that’s happened already, would it make a difference if they stopped now?
I let out a cold, exhausted exhale.
'November 2nd, 2039. Soon it will be that day of the month, all over again.'
I scoffed.
'Does it matter? It’s not like he feels the same way? It’s not like he even knows I'm here.'
'Dammit'
I pressed my eyes shut.
'How in hell did I fall so deeply in love that I ended up like this?'
“N, you are not talking.”
The voice interrupted my reverie. I looked at the twenty-nine-year-old man standing in front of me and I smiled broadly.
“I believe... I believe now.” I muttered.
“Believe what?” He asked me.
"This is faith, all this is my punishment. The real owners of this world are punishing me for all I have done, and you are being used again, like the dog you are.'
A deep frown marred the Man’s face immediately.
"Turn it on. Let’s end this crazy bitch.”
