Chapter 1 - Intro

I yawn and turn over in bed. It’s so comfy... I think foggily. Wait! I sit upright and tear the heavy blanket off of me. It’s Daddy’s birthday! Is he home? I’m running through the house, stopping in front of my parents’ room. I turn the knob slowly and whisper, “Daaaddy!”

No one answers.

I slowly walk in, and stood next to Dad’s side of the bed. It’s dark, so all I can see is a lump. I lightly run my small hand over the person’s face, the lashes are too short to be my mom’s. I press my palm into Daddy’s cheek, “Wake up!” I whisper excitedly.

He mumbles and turns over.

I frown, and leave the room, walking this time. Why are all the windows dark? I make a left, enter the kitchen, and look around for something to stand on. I’m only eight, and I want to see the time on the stove. I know better than to climb the stove, the door would open. There’s a sink a few feet away, but it’s sooo tall.. Hm. Daddy says I’m smart, so I’m sure I’ll figure it out. I walk around the kitchen, and notice the chairs. I smile, cause they have little footholds in between the legs. I climb up onto the chairs, and see the time. 6:30. I’ll have to ask Mom if that’s early. I almost jump off the chair, but I catch myself! I have to be carefuller. I hurt myself last time I jumped off something too high, Daddy says it’s called momentum. He took me to a show once.. a park-oar show? I dunno. Anyway, they tuck and roll and flip! When they landed, they crouched, or did a roll on the ground. I imagine watching myself doing a roll when I reach the ground, but I don’t think I’ll have enough momentium. Crouching it is! I swing my arms and leap.
