Looking Glass
Looking Glass
I stare into the looking glass
And what do I see?
A stranger looking back at me
A face that's not quite me
My eyes are tired, my skin is worn
My hair is dull and gray
I try to smile, but it feels forced
I feel so far away
The looking glass is not my friend
It shows me all my flaws
The lines that trace my every frown
The scars from past applause
But then I pause and take a breath
And look a little closer
I see the kindness in my eyes
The strength that's never over
I see the love that I've received
The laughter I've shared too
I see the person I've become
And all that I've been through
The looking glass may show me faults
But it also shows me grace
The beauty that's within us all
And our unique, perfect place
So, I'll embrace this looking glass
And all that it reveals
For every line and every scar
Is part of what I feel

The way you write is compelling and impactful I’d be interested in exploring more of your work. How long have you been writing? I’m asking with something in mind and would love to explain when you're ready.
