Chapter 1: The ad

The beep of the alarm clock. Absolutely annoying, isn't it? Well, I have to put up with it because I can't turn the alarm clock's schedule off. I usually just take the battery out, but then I can't tell the time. So, I just put up with it. My name is Austin, and I'm just a guy. Honestly, everything is normal and-

Then I saw the ad. The ad on the wall. It had a strange symbol. The symbol was pitch black and looked like two greater/less than symbols pushed together and cut short. The ad read, 'MULTIVERSE MISCHEIF IS BACK AFTER BEING DISBANDED IF YOU WANT TO SAVE THE MULTIVERSE, APPLY FOR REMOTE AGENTSHIP TODAY'. The ad intrigued me. A remote agentship for a multiverse-saving team seemed like a great opportunity. I read closer. 'The address is 3948 w Generation Road.' I nodded. Later that day I walked to the address. There was a clerk sitting at a desk. "Hello," I said. "I'd like to apply for agency." I added. The clerk looked up at me. "Do you have any special fighting ability or skill?" He asked. "Yes, I'm a martial artist." I replied. The clerk nodded. "Alright, I'll let Commander Rareheart know you're here." He spoke. I nodded and sat in the waiting room.

The clerk looked back at me once more. "Your name, sir?" He asked. "Austin." I replied. The clerk nodded and returned to his computer. "Austin, we're ready." Another clerk said. I walked to the door at the front of the waiting room. "I will now take you to commander Rareheart." Said the clerk. Commander Rareheart was a tall standing man with blonde hair slightly darker than my own. "Martial Arts, was it?" He spoke. "Yep." I replied. Rareheart nodded. "Definitely useful." He spoke. "As a remote agent, you will operate in parts of the multiverse that aren't in enough danger to deploy the main 11 agents.

"I think we've got enough information. Oh, do you have a criminal record?" Rareheart said. "No, sir." I replied. Rareheart gave a slight gesture with his hand. "Well then, I won't need to file that paperwork." He spoke. "What paperwork?" I asked. "Since Multiverse Mischief works in close proximity with the governments of this world, several countries offer full and unconditional pardons to criminals in return for becoming agents to protect the multiverse. If they commit a crime off-world, that will of course, not be tolerated." Rareheart said. I nodded. "Your first mission will be assigned tomorrow." Rareheart said. I thanked him and left.

The next day, I checked my mailbox. There was an envelope. In the envelope there was a smartwatch, a notepad, a pen, and my mission assignment. I opened the assignment.

'Thank you for joining MM. You are listed as a Martial Artist, to help us identify you as such, please wear your Gi and belt while on duty. Your first mission assignment is to universe ECR-1B, more widely known as the anime, Erased. A paradox is currently occurring due to the unfavorable outcome that came from the original timeline. Your mission is to go into the forementioned universe and alter the timeline to create a more favorable outcome. You have 6 months of off-world permit time to complete this mission and after which, you will be pulled back to the Core Universe.'

I placed the assignment back in the envelope and walked back inside my home. I prepared for my mission.
