Chapter 1 - Football Player

S H E R L Y

It was the night of the football game. I was respiring heavily as cold sweat trickled down my forehead, trying to calm myself down. I was the star of the show. I was the captain of the team, leading my teammates to victory for the first time. If I win this match with my teammates, I could be in the school’s history for their ever-first win to nationals! I could feel a surge of anxiety dangling in the air, above everyone. The rage of the crowd begging for the game to start filled the atmosphere. Everyone cheering for us filled us with a new sense of confidence and pride.

5 MINUTES LATER

It was time for the match against our long-term rival school, Jong High. Jong High was known for their victories and fame, which is kind of surprising because my school has a longer and better history and meaning, unlike that school.

The match was starting when all of a sudden, all the lights went off. I could hear people gasping because of the sudden power that went out.

“What’s happening? A sudden power off? We can’t play the match like that!” Jone, my teammate, questioned, alarmed and confused.

Everyone was walking around aimlessly as I felt a hand on my shoulder.

“If you don’t want to get killed, I suggest you keep quiet.” A voice came from behind me. I was calm, but my shivering legs said otherwise. A cloth was then put near my mouth and I fell unconscious. The last thing I can remember before falling unconscious was a shout of my name.

“Sherly!! Where are you?! Sherly!!!”

That was it. The only thing I remember before waking up in an abandoned building filled with smoke, cobwebs, dust, lizards, cockroaches, spiders and centipedes.

“Where the hell am I?...” My voice echoed through the building.

“Uhm.. Hello? Is anyone there?” As expected, my voice echoed through the building again.

My head was spinning a lot, my vision was blurry.

“God, what the hell happened?”

“You were unconscious for 2 days, Sherly Hortense Mahuma.”

“What the hell! Who are you? Show yourself!”

The mysterious man who said that revealed himself in the end. He was like a stick without fats but he had some fat, tall man, blonde hair that was very long but was tied up into a ponytail. It was kind of hot not going to lie but that was out of the point.

“Why did you kidnap me?! I’m just a normal football player!” I shouted to the mysterious man.

“Don’t need to worry my darling Sherly. I’m your ex.”

“W-What? Nathan? Is that you? Why did you kidnap me Nathan? You know that we are over already so why come back to me? You said I was a bad girlfriend, a lazy and useless one! So, why come back to me?” I shouted back to him.

“Oh my sweetheart, you know what I want from you.” Nathan tried to assure me.

“What is it?!” I asked while shouting.

“Your heart, of course.” He explained.

“H-Huh?” I said, confused, looking at him. My ex.

Nathan walked towards me, wanting to hug me while I am being tied up. "Stay away from me you asshole!”

“Feisty much? Don’t be scared, you know I love you and you love me back, Sherly.” Nathan said, continuing to walk towards me.

“Stop walking towards me or I will report you to the police once I get out of this mess!”

“Awah darling, I would like to see you try to get out of that tightly-tied rope.” Nathan said.

It really was true. The rope was very tight.

“God, it really is tight.” I muttered to myself.

Meanwhile with Sherly’s family…….

“Oh my sweetheart Sherly, where could you be? It has been two days my sweetie. Please come back home!” Sherly’s mother, Jenifer, cried as her daughter hasn’t been home for two days.

“Why is mummy crying? And where is sissy? She hasn’t been home and I want to play with her!” Sherly’s adopted sister, Liya asked.

“Darling, mummy’s crying because she’s happy. Sissy just went to a friend’s house to stay for a week.” Sherly’s dad, Fron, explained, knowing that Sherly has probably gone missing during the night of the football match against Jong High.

Back with Sherly and Nathan…….

“Just let me go already! Please! My family is going to be worried and they probably are going to think that I’m dead so please, let me go! I want my freedom back! Please!” Sherly was shouting to Nathan who ignored her for almost a whole day despite saying that he wants her heart back to where it ‘belongs’.

“Just shut up will you? And no, I will not let you go just yet. You still owe me something.”

“What is it? I’m sick and tired of you already!”

“My $10 and your love sweetheart.”

“Ugh. I can just give you the $10 in school tomorrow and we are never going to get back together, Nathan. You and me, we’re done. Just accept the fact I’m gone and I didn’t break up with you. You did it so why come back when you were the one who broke up with me in the first place?”

“You know that I didn’t mean the break up. You know I still love you. Right?”

“No, you hate me. Don’t you?”

“Of course I don’t, my darling. I love you a lot. You mean the world to me.” Trying to get closer with his love of his life but once he got too close, I kicked his dick. He was invading my personal space which should be personal and private. He can’t just invade my space like that even if he’s my ex. He’s just my ex. I mean, he wouldn’t kill me, right?

“Ouch. You got some guts to kick me in the dick like that, huh? You’re going to regret doing that to me with not being able to play football anymore!” Nathan took out a gun as he said that. I managed to get free from the tight rope and ran through the hallways of the building.

“Run all you want, Sherly dear! But you can’t hide from me, darling!” He shouted.

I was observing my surroundings. It really was a building but, there were just some…. Unsettling things about this building…. It feels like someone is always watching me, observing my every move. I heard Nathan’s voice from afar. He was laughing like a crazy psycho.

“I can see you, Sherly! Don’t be scared of me! I’m just protecting you from this cruel world, dear!”

“No! I just want to see my family well and alive again and you’re not protecting me from this cruel world! You’re just preventing me from being free and living my own life without you! I can find someone better than you, idiot!” I shouted back, regretting those words.

“You…. You called me an idiot? How dare you? After everything I have done for you, you treat me like this? Be grateful I was your boyfriend, if not how would you get all that popularity? Yup! From me!”

I regretted the words I have spoken, it was true. I wouldn’t have been so popular if it wasn’t for him. I was probably the best player on that team but no one recognized me. They only recognize the other normal players but not me, the captain.

“Boo, sweetheart!” Nathan popped in front of me out of nowhere.

“Ah!” I bumped into him. Gosh, that was stupid.

“You can’t run anymore! I blocked the entrance and exits in this building so don’t bother looking for them! Look at me instead!”

“Great..” I muttered to myself.

“Now, now. Follow me!” He said, grabbing my arm tightly and pulled me back to where I was. The chair on the fifth floor.
