HOLLY
The alabaster whiffs of clouds partly covered the beautiful face of an angel named Holly.
"A special assignment you said?" she asked God questioningly.
"Yes, I need to send you to earth to help solve crimes," God's voice echoed.
"It is getting awful down there. There is a ridiculous number of unsolved crimes, some up to 50 years unresolved," God added.
Holly can detect the urgency in her boss' voice and was more than willing to help.
"I am telling you Holly, it won't be long now until I make my grand entrance," God said adamantly.
The terrain felt as soft as carpet interspersed with the crackle and pop of my footsteps as I stepped on rocks and stones. The smell of fresh bark engulfed me with peace while the canopy of trees that welcomed me like an entourage of soldiers, enthralled my senses.
"Boss, you really did a beautiful job here," I took a minute to marvel at the splendor of nature around me.
The sobs and soft cries of what sounded like a child's, drew my attention and so I decided to follow where it led.
There in a hidden clearing, I found a young girl with beautiful blond hair who was seated on the ground, nursing what looked like an abrasion on her right knee. She looked up immediately upon sensing my presence.
"Hi there! I'm Holly, what's your name?" I said tenderly.
She stared at me, seemingly unsure if she should respond or not.
"It's Ok, I'm here to help you," I said reassuringly.
"My name is Allison," she said still looking suspicious.
"I... I was afraid he would catch me, and so I ran as fast as I could and..," she then looked at her knee and began to sob.
I spread my arms out to her and hugged her tight.
"Don't worry, I am here now. I will never let anyone harm you," my eyes watered as I felt Allison relax in my arms.
I then had a vision of what really happened to this little girl.
Allison was biking home from school, when out of nowhere, a white utility van started following her. She became aware of this, instantly, and began pedaling harder to try to get away from the van. Two blocks away from her home was an isolated wooded area, and this is when the van accelerated at full speed catching up to Allison and trapping her. Allison fell from her bike, stood up, and ran full sprint into the woods.
A disheveled man in his 50s, got out of the van, picked up her bike and threw it inside. He then started walking in the direction of the woods with a smirk on his face, looking around, making sure there were no witnesses.
Then, I saw nightfall has descended and there was Allison asleep on the ground, clutching her school backpack. In the background, I heard people calling her name. This girl must have been really frightened, tuning out what happened to her, as I gazed at the white ear buds on her little ears.
The crunch of footsteps brought me back to the present.
"There you are little girl!" I saw the same disheveled man, I saw in my vision looking hungrily at Allison.
This is when I transformed into a dog.
