Chapter 1

Even though it's only 7.20 p.m., my feet are already aching. In just 10 minutes, I'll be able to make my way upstairs and finally put my feet up and read my book after working at the bar all day with just David and one other colleague, Clare. It was meant to be my day off, so I said I'd help out for a bit and get an early night. As I was checking the fridge to see if anything needed replenishing, a voice said, 'Excuse me.' Turning around, I looked up to find a woman standing there.

How may I assist you? I ask her.

"Could you kindly ask them to tone it down? They are laughing and chatting so loudly as if they own the place, and I just came in for a quiet drink. "Sure, I'll go talk to them, "I inform her.

I turn to face them and notice that there are four of them—two men and two women. Normally, I wouldn't do this, but since they are speaking too loudly, I will. I start to feel a little anxious as I go closer to the table where they are seated, so I take a deep breath.

''Hi Excuse me, Could you please keep the noise down a little?''

''Why, What's your problem with us?'' one of the women at the table rudely asks.

''No problem at all, A customer has complained about the noise so I said I would come and speak to you that's all."

''If some busybody doesn't like the amount of noise we are making then maybe they should just leave." ''I would like all my customers to be happy while they are drinking here."

The dark-haired man, who looks as hot as hell, glances in my direction and apologizes. "We'll try to keep it down," he says, offering me a warm smile. My cheeks flush as I thank him and turn away.

I'm back behind the bar and the woman who rudely spoke to me isn't looking too pleased with the man. She's bawling at him, "Why in the world did you do that? If I want to talk loud I shall!" I struggle to make out what he replies but it's clear she's very angry. She seems so familiar like I've seen her somewhere before. The pub is starting to empty out and I was just about to call it an early night and finish the book I've been reading, but I'm drawn to the drama of this woman and the dark-haired man.

The dark-haired guy from the table approaches me when I'm about to sit down and asks, "Can I buy you a drink?" He then adds, "To apologize for earlier when we were being noisy."

I nod and say, "Sure, I'll have a large red, please."

"Alright then, a large red for you, and I'll also get four double whiskies for my table," he replies.

Before leaving after paying for his drinks, the man says, "By the way, I'm Sebastion," holding out his hand. "Alexis," I reply while putting my hand in his.

He gently but firmly grasps it, shakes it a little, and grinned while saying, "Nice name."

I turn around to see the woman he was sitting with is not there as he picks up his drinks and makes his way back to his table.

She wouldn't likely be pleased with Sebastion buying me a drink or even shaking my hand.

To pass the time, I down the drink Sebastian bought me before pouring myself another red and doing the same thing with it.

I'd do anything to forget the past six months.

All I want is for the pain to stop.

I need to leave this bar for a bit. I tell David I'm going to pop out back for a while.

To allow myself some time to think things through, I go outside and sit at the bottom of the steps with my head in my hands.

Behind me, Sebastion appears and asks, "Can we talk in private?" Why has he followed me out here?

"I tell him, "Ok, but not here," and I invite him to come with me further into the garden. We are positioned next to the alley's wall. "Are you alright?" He asks.

I'm Ok, Ish. Why do you want to know? I respond, "I noticed you necking down your drinks, you appeared unhappy and teary."

What does this have to do with you? I ask him.

'"I'm simply trying to be nice and make sure everything is okay with you."

I resist laughter and retort, "Nice?, Men only pretend to be nice."

"So you don't think I'm a nice guy then, I guess?" He asks.

I gaze down after shrugging my shoulders. "Don't be like this." Sebastion murmurs as he places his mouth next to mine.

The same chills that I felt when he shook my hand return.

Why not? I ask him.

Because I might have to...

You might have to what? I ask.

Sebastion's lips are pressed against mine and I find myself drawn to him and returning his kiss. I can't explain why I'm doing this, I'm still unsure of who he is. His name is the only thing I know about him. I shouldn't be so intimate with someone I just met, but I can't seem to stop myself. He lifts me up and pins me against the wall as he thrusts himself inside me. I feel my heart racing as his lips travel down my neck and he continues to kiss me. Despite my mind telling me to stop, I can't help but feel overwhelmed with emotion.

Sebastion turns to me and in a low voice asks, "Are you ok" I answer with a nod, but before I can even finish my response, a woman's voice calls out for Sebastion. As the voice gets closer, I realise it is the woman Sebastion had been sitting with. His expression changes to one of rage, and he swears under his breath. He tells me not to move and that she will leave soon. He continues to kiss and caress me, not seeming to care that she might catch us, but rather more annoyed that she had interrupted.

Phew, I say with a sigh of relief. She's gone. As we keep going, I wrap my arms around Sebastion, one around his lower back and the other on the back of his head. I press my lips to his and when he pulls out his cock, I quickly straighten up my clothing.

I inform Sebastion that I'm about to head back to the bar. I ask him to hang back for a few minutes before he follows me. "Sure," he says. He presses a gentle kiss on my lips and adds, "Before you go, I have to tell you something. The woman who came looking for me is my wife."

I can't believe it. What did I just do? What did we do? I know that because he's married, this is forbidden.

Sebastian tries to explain, "My wife and I are no longer getting along. Nothing I do or say can make her happy, even though she was caught kissing my friend. She's the one who is always questioning me about my whereabouts and what I've been up to. I want a divorce, but she doesn't know yet."

"It doesn't make this right, and if I had known then, I would have..." And before I can finish my words Sebastian pushes me up against the wall and says, "Then you would do it all over again." I pull away as he starts to kiss me. Goodbye, Sebastian!" I say, realizing the gravity of my actions and the consequences that will follow.

I immediately freshen up in the upstairs bathroom before returning to the bar. I can't believe what I just did—not only do I recognise this woman, but I also just had sex with her husband. I tell David to leave and take a break once I'm back behind the bar. I pour myself another glass of wine and sit here enjoying the music while wondering why Sebastion allows his wife to speak to him in such a way.

When I look over at Sebastion and his friends, his wife doesn't look too pleased. It's like she's asking herself where he went. Then, out of nowhere, she shows up at the bar and says to me, "In the future, if there's any noise, just stay quiet. Because of you, my husband is being a fool, and he should know better than to not listen to me since I'm always right."

I reply firmly, "This is my bar and I will do as I please. Your husband is a grown man and can make his own decisions, not what you tell him to." With her friend in tow, she quickly scurries away to the bathroom. I know I've seen her somewhere before and I can see why Sebastion finds her so overbearing.

"A large Vodka and whatever you want to drink," The man claims that he just walked into the pub while intoxicated.

I tell him, "No thank you, and you seem to have had enough already." He says, "Fucking bitch, What's your problem?" Sebastion rushes to the bar in a matter of seconds, yanking the man away while stating, "The lady said no." He is instructed to leave and never return by Sebastion. "Who would want to return here anyway," the man says as he walks away.

Sebastion asks, "Are you alright?"

"Yes, thank you for that," I reply. "No problem," he answers.

Shortly after he goes back to his table, His wife and her female friend appear. I can't quite make out what they are saying, but she seems a little happier and asserts that she is always correct.

As I'm picking up the glasses, I overhear Sebastion telling his friends that after they finish their drinks, they can go on to the club and he'll meet them there shortly as he has some errands to run. His wife inquires, "What kind of errands?" He simply responds, "Just errands." She doesn't seem pleased with his answer but doesn't push the issue.

When Sebastion's wife and friends leave, he comes up to me and says, "Can we swap numbers? I'd like to see you again." I answer, "I'm not sure." He gives me a serious gaze before delicately taking my hand and saying, "Trust me." I explain it's just for friendship. he says, "Sure" and we agree to exchange numbers. He winks at me before leaving, Omg that wink, it's smoking hot.

This evening has taken an unexpected turn. I can't help but wonder if I'll ever encounter Sebastion again. After what happened with Kyle, he's the first man that I have been with in a while. I glance at the clock and realize it's almost 9.30 p.m. I can't help but be amazed at how quickly the hours have passed. Soon, I'll be able to lock up and head upstairs to my flat.

After informing David that I'm just going to the restroom, I'm greeted by my friend Jaz when I return. "Hey, Jaz. What brings you here?" I ask.

Jaz tells me she's going to Club Luusssh and invites me to come along. I hesitate, not knowing if I have the energy after a long day. Then I remember that the bar is quiet now, so I suggest to David that he finish up and lock up.

When I ask David to lock the bar, he readily agrees. Jaz and I head upstairs so that I can get changed.

I leave Jaz in the living room and ask her to turn on some music and put her feet up until we are ready to leave. Once I've showered, I quickly put on a short black dress and a pair of black heels before returning to Jaz's singing and dancing. She remarks, "Looking good," to which I reply, "Thank you and you are looking very nice yourself."

She says thank you, and we head back down to the bar to order a taxi.

Before Jaz and I head out, I express my appreciation to David for all his help in the bar today. Jaz then turns towards me and inquires, "So how has your day been?" I reply, "It's been great, but I'm feeling quite tired." I'm tempted to tell Jaz about what happened earlier, however, I'm not sure I'm ready to talk about it at this time. I ask her, "How was your day?" She tells me about her tedious wait for the arrival of a new washing machine.

As the taxi pulls up Jaz orders the driver to take us to Lusssh, and I remark, "Why Luusssh and not Backbar?" She tells me, "Luusssh has recently undergone renovations, so all drinks are half-price, and it has new owners. They didn't like the name Saints And Sinners so they renamed it, also Backbar is boring."

"Fair enough," I respond.

I pull my phone from my pocket and watch as Jaz snaps a picture of us. She smiles brightly and remarks that it has been a while since we have been in one together. I remember the last one, it was when Kyle and I were dating, and I immediately try to push the thought away. I don't want to bring up Kyle—I try to block out his name as much as I can—the less I think of him, the better.

After getting out of the taxi outside of Luusssh, Jaz proposes we go to a pub called The Notebook. I agree, and when we get there, it's quite crowded, so we only order one drink and leave. We arrive at Luusssh and join the crowd in the queue. As we wait, I check the time—11:05 p.m.—and imagine how nice it would be to be cuddled up in bed reading.

As we proceed through the queue, one of the bouncers asks Jaz for her identification, but they never ask me. This makes me giggle. Fortunately, she has her ID with her, so we head to the cloakroom so Jaz can hand in her coat. Because they misplaced my coat the last time I went to a club, I didn't see the sense of wearing one. If it hadn't been a brand-new coat, I might not have cared as much.
