The Gem Stone

Long time ago, say for 500 years before, there lived a king in Egypt who has an aim to rule the whole world. He had a strong army and ministers as a support. Victory after victory, he captured many small kingdoms around him and made his a large and strong kingdom. But he was not satisfied with that. He keeps going for war against his neighboring kingdoms, captures them and made them as his own. He almost captured half of the Africa, still starved for more. But unfortunately his body condition became worst and gone for bedridden. Yet he didn’t accept his fate. He created a separate doctors team to find a cure for his illness which went in vain. Still he didn’t accept his defeat and challenged his own fate. But all his attempts gone failure and he was in a mental depression along with his body struggle. One day, he come to know about a stone which is hidden somewhere at Egypt. A stone, that gives more power and long life. Even it could give an immortal life. It’s called the Gem Stone. So the king decided to send a team to find the stone as soon as possible. He gathered best men of him to find the stone. 10 teams of 10 men, totally 100 men went separately to each direction of the Egypt to find the stone.

Each team is split to each part of the Egypt. Some were searching among the villages and others in the desert. It’s been a week since the team started their search for the Gem Stone but they couldn’t find anything. Not even a single clue where it will be. The team that made a search in the villages has return with fail result. Some team who had search in desert also came back with vain. There is only 2 team is left to return. These teams were sent to the deeper part of the desert.

Third person’s POV

It was very sunny in the morning as we all headed up on a desert. It’s a very long desert where we couldn’t found anything for a so long. As we go further and deep inside the desert the climate is changing. It’s getting dark very soon which is unusual in a desert like this. Strange! As it is completely dark we planned to halt at a place. We had our dinner and prepared ourselves to sleep. As days pass by we have only small amount of ration and we are managing our food by hunting some desert animals around us. But as we get deeper into the desert it is very difficult to find any animal. We prepared a tent which can accommodate two persons then spread some sheets on the sand and covered ourselves with another sheet. We kept our self very closer so that it will be easy to alert each other in case of emergency.

I and a young boy accommodated in a tent and his name is very unique as like his character.

We all came here to find the stone and get reward from the king but this boy here came along with us to have some adventure. All his talks, everything he does and his way of thinking are different from us. He says ‘life is too short for sufferings so we have to live with our whole heart and enjoy each moment’. His name is Tutu, a 5.9 feet tall young boy; at the age of 19 he has a matured talk like my grandfather. He has fair skin tone with slim body and has a long black hair which falls down to his shoulders. He has clean face without any facial hairs. Everyone in our team is scared of him including our team leader because of his annoying personality. He talks a lot and asks questions after questions a lot too. He is not afraid of anything except god and he never lies. Even if whole village is against him, he never gives up and stands only on the justice side.

From the beginning of this gem stone journey he is been ignored by the whole team. Whatever he says is being ignored even if it’s correct. No one is accepting his point or suggestions which I felt bad for him. Even he said that we have to head north but the team leader lead us towards south and couldn’t found any. So our team leader planned to go back towards north and here we are now. I don’t know when this conflict will be ok. Have all this thought in my mind sleep took over me. It was almost midnight and we all in a deep sleep. Suddenly we heard some noise outside which woke us all. It was like someone is crying out loud. I woke up in jolt and sat straight likewise Tutu also sat next to me and look into my eyes. I got up from my sheets to look out what is happening but he grabbed my hand and pulls me down.

“What is it boy? Why are you stopping me? I have to check it out where the sound is been coming from so let me go.”

”No don’t go. It seem to be an illusion”

“An illusion? Are you crazy?”

“No I’m not crazy but I know it’s an illusion. It’s an animal. It attracts the human with these sorts of sounds, hypnotizes them and eats them as its prey. I’ve studied a lot about this animal in books I think we are very close to the stone.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes we need to alert others. Stay inside the tent and don’t come out even if it’s me that calls you” Saying this he went outside. I stayed in the tent like he said. Yes I obeyed him because he made more research about this stone and also about this desert. So according to me he was supposed to be the team leader. After a while he came back inside and I signed in relief.

“Are you ok boy?” I asked in concern and examined him from up to down.

“Yes I’m fine. We can go to sleep now.” He yawned and said.

“But how did you managed to come safe from that animal?”

“Very simple. I just closed my eyes and ears, went to every tent by touching each tent and warned every one inside. Everyone heard me and I got confirmed it by their reply. So no problem until no one comes out with their eyes and ears open.”

“Doesn’t the animal attack you?”

“No. Until I fall for its hypnosis, I’m safe only.” saying this he went to sleep. I prayed to god that no one comes out and let us cross this safely and went to sleep.

The next morning I came out of the tent and my heart skipped a beat seeing the view in front of me. I almost collapsed and fall down. Hearing my fallen sound Tutu came out of the tent and grabbed me from falling down further.

“What happened? Are you ok? Do you need something?” he asked with concern but instead of replying I pointed my fingers straight towards the others. He slowly turned his head towards the direction of my finger.

“What the hell!!!” he shouted. He left his arms from me and pulled his hair in frustration.

“How does this happen? I told them not to come out. But it seems no one has trusted me.” He shouted further in broken voice.

“Yeah. It seems no one trusted you. That’s why they all became food for the monster.” Every single one of them has been eaten by that animal. The view was a mess, a real mess. The place is full of dried blood, flesh and some broken bones here and there.

“We have to leave this place as quickly as possible before we became the pray to that animal” Tutu said and we packed the things which is left out and moved from the place as fast as we could. After walking further more we could felt some change in the weather. The sun was covered with dark clouds. Usually it won’t rain in the deeper part of the desserts. But this seems to be raining soon.

“I think we are very close to the stone. I could feel it.” Tutu said. “Be close with me and keep your eyes and ears open wider. Anything can happen here.” We walked further and welcomed by a huge storm. Walking is very difficult as the wind blows strong and within a fraction of second we both were started to fly in the air. Tutu tries to come near to me and grabbed my hands. “Don’t let go of my hand.” He shouted in the storm. As we fled further the storm gets worst and we broke apart. After few twist by the wind, we were thrown somewhere and I block out.

I woke up with a head ach and some dizzy head. I adjusted my eye sight to the light and realized that I am apart from Tutu. I started to search for him and shouted out his name for some time. We were walking in a dessert and hit by a storm. But this place seems to be a forest and I am walking in a narrow path were only one person could walk. The place is surrounded by tall and huge trees. The place is silent, complete silent. It looks like there is no living being in this place. Even the sun ray is not seen. Tutu was standing at the end of the path.

Once I saw him I rushed towards him and halted in front of him. After taking some breath I called him out and he responded to my call. He slowly turned towards me, holding a stone in his hand. It was a white stone, shiny and glowed in the dark. I looked at the stone and looked at him.

“Is it…….”

“The Gem Stone! WE FOUND IT ATLAST!!.” Tutu completed my sentence with an excitement.
