Surrogate Mom

I came down from the cab as i stare at the massive building in front of me.

Was i really going to get a job here?

I looked at my appearance as i use my hands to brush my hair in a well organizing manner.

I was putting on a long black skirt,a turtle neck long Milky shirt and a black heels.If anyone could look at my shoes properly,they would know it's an old wear.

I sigh as i clutch my bag and then walked towards the door.

The door slide open as i walked in.

As i entered the building i was Left Awe.

The big portraits on the walls was an eye sore.I guess the owner of this place loves artwork.

The windows were so large enough that you can see everything outside.

The inside was big and beautiful compare to the outside.

I even forgot what brought me here as i began to look around.

"Hey!"i heard a feminine voice called as i turn to see a lady waving at me.

I walked up to her table as i placed my bag on the table.

"Get your bag off my table."she said.

I quickly brought down my bag as i clutch it to my chest.

"Am sorry."

"Who are you and what are you doing here?"

I allow my eyes run through her appearance.She was beautiful and was also beautifully dressed.

She was putting on a white long sleeve shirt and a black pant,i couldn't catch glimpse of her shoes because the table was covering her leg.

"Am Diana Ross and I'm here for a job."

"You are here for a job?"she asked as she stare at me from head to my toes.

"Yes."

"Does this place look like a restaurant or a bar?"she asked.

I was confused.

"I don't understand."

"You can't possibly work here, take a look around.This is not a place for someone like you."

I felt insulted.

"Are you perhaps here for the interview?"

"No."

"Do you have an appointment with Mr Dickson?"

"No."

"Then why are you even here at first, this is not just a normal company that you can just walk in and be given a job."

"Please let me see your boss."i pleaded.

"Leave."

"Please i really need this job."i said trying to hold back my tears.

"Don't make me call the security on you."

"I will leave."i said as i turn to leave the building.

When i got to my apartment,i saw a letter lying on the floor.I picked it up as i went inside.

Immediately my cat saw me she jumped into my arms.

I laughed as she nuzzles her furs on my face.

"Hello Bell."i said as i uses my leg to close my door and then head to my kitchen.

I placed Bell on my kitchen counter as i open the fridge to bring out a bowl of ice cream.

Ice cream helps to calm my nerves.

"I didn't get the job today."i said as i put a spoon of ice cream into my mouth.

I close my eyes as i allowed the ice cream melt in my mouth.

"How am i suppose to cope?"

I picked up the letter as i read it.

I squeezed it into a ball as i throw into the trash can.

"That's the notice."i said."the rent is due."

The tears that i have been holding finally came down.

I rested my head on the counter as i began to cry.

I hate that i had to live this way.

I occupied myself at the office cause i didn't want to go home.

My mom was at my house.She came uninvited.

I know her reasons for coming here and i will make sure i avoid having that conversation with her until she leaves.

But i guess i was wrong as my office door suddenly open and she walked in while my secretary was hot after her trails.

"Boss am so sorry...i tried to stop her."jane said.

"It's okay,leave us."i said as she left.

"So you asked them not to let me in?"my mom asked.

"Welcome."

"Don't welcome me when you don't mean it."she said.

"Why are you here mom?"i asked.

"You know am at your house and that is why you chose to stay in your office up to this time."

"Mom you came uninvited,i wasn't gonna abandon my work here at the office."

"So i need a permission to come and visit my son."

"For your son who is busy,yes."

"Well am here now and we are going to have that conversation."

"This is my work place."

"I don't care."

"Well I'm working."

"I will seat down and wait for you."she said as she made herself comfortable on my sofa that was at the other end of my office.

"Really mom?"

"Oh yes."

I sigh as i relax back on my chair and then folded my hands.

"Let's just get this done with,what do you want?"i asked.

"Good."she stood up as she came to sit on the chair opposite mine.

"Speak up."

"I will go straight to the point.Simon get marry."

"We have talked about this countless times,you know my answer to that."

"Why are you bent on frustrating me,

Simon why are you refusing to get married?"

"Cause i don't want to marry."

"Why?"

"Women are nuisance and gold diggers."i spat.

I hate women.

Of course apart from my mom

I just can't see myself settling down with one.

Don't get me wrong,i have women to warm my bed but that's it,no strings attached.

"I want grandchildren!"

"I want kids also."

"Then get married!"

"No."

She picked up the container where my pens were kept as she threw them at me.

"Mom!"

"Do you want me dead before you give me grandchildren."

"I can adopt."

"Over my dead body!"she spat.

"Mom, please let's drop this topic."

"Simon."she called softly as she reached out to hold my hands that were now lying on my table.

"Please,for my sake get marry."

"Nothing is going to change my mind ."

"Is this still about Meredith?"she asked.

I immediately drew my hands from her hold as i stood up.

"Meredith has nothing to do with this."i gritted out.

"Liar."she said."ever since she left you have never gotten into a serious relationship,why are you still wallowing in the dark."she cried.

"Mom stop it,she has nothing to do with this!"i shouted.

"She has! Cause i see no reason why a grown up handsome man that has everything in life is refusing to marry."

"Enough!"i slammed my hands on my desk as she flinched.

I picked up the telecom as i put a call to my secretary.

"Jane please come to my office."

I ended the call.

Few minutes later my secretary came in.

"Please excort my mom out, see that she gets home safely."

"Simon are you chasing me out?"

"No,you need rest."i said.

"I will see you at home."with that they both left.

I sigh as i drop to my chair.

Fuck marriage.

The flight to Paris was uneventful

I made sure i was done with all my work schedule and then i flew back to New York the next day and when i got back my mom was already gone.

I was relieved.

The cleaning woman who always came during the week had left food for me in my refrigerator,as she always did.

I took my bath and then i microwave the food before heading to bed.

Tomorrow i have an early meeting.

The next day i woke up pretty late due to the stress and without wasting time i quickly prepared as my driver drove me to work.

After my meeting i went for lunch where my best friend came to join at.

"Damn Simon,are you even getting a rest?"he asked.

"Of course i am."i said taking a sip out of my ice tea.

"I don't think so,look at the bags under your eyes,you fucking need a vacation."

"Not now, this company twenty seventh anniversary is coming up and i don't want to jeopardize my work."

"Don't stress yourself."

"Yeah."

"So are you still meeting with the doctor today?"he asked.

Fuck.I forgot i have an appointment with the doctor.

After much thought i was optioning for a surrogate.

It was something i didn't want my mom to know of.

She is going to mad if she finds out.

Today i was suppose to meet with the doctor concerning the issue but i don't think i can meet with the doctor today.

"I forgot and I'm not sure it's going to work today,i have plans."

"Are you scared of having kids?"he asked as he chuckled.

"Scared,of course not."

Well now that he said it, am a little scared.

How was i going to raise a kid alone?

I entered the hospital as i went in search of my friend.

She works here at the hospital.

She was my best friend and also my room mate before she got engaged and went to live with her boyfriend.

Despite the fact that we don't live together again,we were still close.We both make time to spend with each other.

I got to the staff quarters as i saw her chatting and laughing with one of the nurses.

"Lydia."i called and the moment she saw me she stood up and ran to me as she hugged me.

"Oh my God,what are you doing here?"she asked.

"I came to see you and i also brought lunch."i said raising the bag that contains food up.

"Wow,i love you."she said as she began to kiss my face.

"Eww..stop."I laughed as i pushed her away.

"Come on, let's go to the office."she said as we both left.

On getting there,we sat down as we began to chat.

"So tell me,how are things going?"she asked.

"Not too good,i didn't get the job I went for last week."

"I'm so sorry but i told you that i could tell mason to find a job for you in his own place of work."

Mason was her fiance.

"And i said no."

"Why?"

"I don't want him to feel like am using you to get a job."

"You know Mason is not like that."

"Yes i know but i want to do this on my own."

"Am sorry,Diana.I wish there was something i could do."

I grab her hand as i placed a kiss on it.

"You have done so much for me already Lydia.Its time for me to do things on my own again."

"Just know you are not alone okay."

"Okay."

"Good.I have good news."

"What?"

"Mason has fixed the date of our wedding."

"That's nice."I said as i hugged her.

"I can't believe am getting married."

"It's a good thing, isn't it?"

"Yeah,but I'm still scared."she said as she began to sob.

"Scared of what?"

"I don't know... maybe I'm just anxious of finally settling down."

"You should be happy girl."

"I am."

"This calls for a celebration, how about a dinner and fun time at my house like old times."

"Okay."

"Come eat your food, it's getting cold."

She began to eat as she watch her.

I was happy for her and at the same time sad.

I wished i were in her shoes.

After spending quality time with her,i decided to go back home.

"Promise me you will come."

"I promise immediately I get home,i will freshen up and then come home."

"Okay."

"Come on let me see you off."

We both left the office as we began to walked out of the hospital.

Just then my phone rang and just as i was about to bring out my phone from my bag i bumped into a hard chest.

"Watch it lady."a heard the man said as i look up to meet his eyes.

I was shocked and at the same time surprised.

I have never seen anyone as handsome as he was right now.

He was a daunting figure,tall, powerfully built, his eyes were dark and can pierce right through your soul.

"I would appreciate if you stop starring."he said and i was pulled out of my thoughts.

"I'm sorry."i blushed as i look away.

He looked at his watch and then brushes pass me as he walked away.

"Diana!"Lydia called as she drag me to her side."how can you stare at a man like that."

"He wasn't just any man,he was a god.Look at him,did you see him?"

"I can't look at any man Diana Ross,

Am engaged and getting married in one month time."

"Oh yeah i forgot."

"Come on let's go,the man didn't even like the way you were eye fucking him."

"Shhh..."i covered her mouth."do you want people to hear."

She removed my hand from her mouth as she drag me outside.

"Take a cab and go home."

"Are you chasing me?"

"No,i just don't want you thinking of any man now,a lot is already on your table."

"You are right.Bye."i hailed a cab as it came to a stop and i entered and it drove off.

She had no shame in her.

I thought maybe after bumping into me i was gonna expect an apology from her but she was just staring.

I know I'm handsome but i hate it when women stare.

I walked pass her as i headed to my destination.

I was already late for my appointment due to the traffic but I'm sure the doctor would understand.

"Good day doctor."i said greeted.

"Mr Dickson you're.please make yourself comfortable."the doctor said as i sat down.

"Thank you."

"Tea or coffee?"

"No thank you."

"Okay,so..you are here for?"

"I need a surrogate."i said blurtly.

"Okay and how did you come up with that,are you married?"

"No."

"So you just want a child as a single parent?"

"Yes."

"This decision of yours have you thought about it well?"

"I have given it a thought, and it is exactly what i want."

"Okay, excuse me."she said as she stood up and went to the other room,soon she came out with a file.

"Please your name and signature."

I wrote than my name and also my signature as i pass the file back to her.

"Do you have anyone in mind for the surrogate Mom?"she asked.

"Was i supposed to pick?"

"Of course,we can't just give you anyone.First of all we would find your match."

"Please englighten me on how this thing works."i said as she sat back down to explain everything to me
