Chase

I jumped over a fallen tree. Currently I was chasing a rogue who was sighted at the borders of our pack. My aim was to capture and not kill. I believe that rogues are humans like us or more specifically werewolves. And they too have a life. Most of them live in packs majority of them are casted away by their original packs due to some minor crimes, some left their pack on their own. And they formed packs and started living peacefully. Then there are those nasty ones who are pure evil and are killing machines, they live without any pack and kill without a second thought. They have a nasty smell which helps recognizing them. Though I wasn’t sure about this particular one. He hadn’t killed any of our pack members yet but before he could do that, I was on his tail. I was in my room when I smelled a faint unknown smell and through my enhanced senses, as I am an alpha’s daughter, I detected him. He was sneakily spying on our pack. And instantly I jumped out of my window throwing any thought about my safety out the window including myself. When he spotted me, he ran away. And the chase began.

I crossed my packs boundary which wasn’t a big deal as I often wondered far away from our pack. The rogue was headed In a particular direction like he was luring me away but I wanted to find out his origins. And if it came to fight, I could easily handle some rogues on my own. I was currently passing through the unclaimed territory and I could sense the danger lurking about. I was far far away from my own pack and I couldn’t contact my pack from this distance, I have passed many packs and I have to admit, I haven’t wandered this far off from my own pack before. I was now dangerously far away from my pack. Fed up of this chase, I sped up to catch this rogue and end this matter. I let my wolf Dew take control. My midnight blue fur shined in the moonlight and Dew restrained herself not to release a howl in case of alerting the enemies. The rogue slowed down just a bit as though he sensed another danger. And changed his direction. My nose caught a distant strange scent.

“Something is not right Eva” Dew said in our mind link. She was anxious for some unknown reason.

“it’s alright, once we catch this rogue we’ll dwindle on that later. We have to get home dad will be worried.” I could feel it too but I decided to calm my wolf down first. She was the most powerful wolf in all the other female wolves of alpha blood. Meaning the entire werewolf race so what could possibly startle her.

I was lost in my thoughts momentarily and I lost the sight of the rogue. I cursed myself. And pushed my legs further and soon I sighted him it felt as tho he was panicked and tired and his legs slowed down a bit. I mentally smirked and used this to my advantage. Now Dew handed me back the control and after taking a sharp turn I launched at him. I could feel my front paws touching his dirty fur when a huge white mass tackled him away from me with the speed of lightning.

Suddenly I was hit with a strong whiff of woods and rain scent. And I landed on my paws.

“Mate” Dew whispered unbelievably in our mind. Completely in awe of our mate.

We had given up on finding our mate as most wolves find theirs at the age of 18 to 20.i was now 22. And have given up. I was happy with my little family and my pack. But I couldn’t help but feel happy that I have found my mate. I was over joyed. My wolf longed for her mate as it is essential to their existence. She kept my spirits up that we’ll find him one day. Now he was right before my eyes in all his powerful glory, standing tall his bulky muscles bulged against his soft fur. I was in a trance. I couldn’t believe my eyes. He was an alpha but I also detected a strangely strong, unknown aura to him.

But all my hopes and thoughts were crushed within the next few seconds. He tackled the rogue to the ground and kept him pinned on the spot with his one paw. A thunderous growl escaped him which shook the whole forest. In the next second he whipped his head towards me. Deep green eyes stared back into my blue ones with such intensity I had to resist the urge to step back. A flash of shock and confusion crossed on his face but when I blinked to make sure, it was gone in a flash and I wondered if I saw right. But what I saw next shook me to the core, pure rage, hatred and loathing took it’s place. I felt them through the mate bond. But the next minute I was blocked out. I release a frustrated growl.

My wolf whimpered seeing our mate’s reaction. And I was stunned by his actions too. I took a hold of myself and wiped my face off of any emotion and replaced it with my usual cold one. Blocking him too. I directed all my attention to the more concerning matter, the rogue who had a hard time breathing. His muzzle turned blue with the lack of oxygen. I growled deeply and crouched down to tackle him off of my prey. He was cautiously observing my every move but through his cold and guarded expression, I could detect a hint of panic seeing as what I was about to do next. It seemed as though he was afraid if I got any closer.

“Afraid huh?! I could never hurt him as my mate.” I asked Dew.

She was still in shock of our mates rejection. Seeing him distracted, rogue meekly tried to launch his paw at his right side of stomach. He could barely make a scratch on his majestic body. That action halted me in my steps and what I saw next, scarred me for life. I froze at my spot.

In a flash, he tore his eyes off me and pure rage took it’s place, he slowly and with a promise of death in his eyes looked back at the rogue who somehow escaped his paw when he was distracted and now realizing his mistake, was shaking with fear. He frantically looked for an escape. My mates eyes flashed red indicating his wolf took control. I could sense his wolf wasn’t just of alpha blood rather stronger and had an abnormally vicious and brutal aura. His chest Vibrated with a deep growl and without warning he lunged at the wolf. I’m not sure what happened next. All I heard was a heart wrenching painful whimper and when I blinked my eyes, a fountain of blood erupted from where once rogue’s neck was. He lifelessly dropped to the ground. My breath hitched and I desperately tried to get some air within my lungs. His body crushed to the point it was barely recognizable. Deep crimson Blood emitted from the deep gashes in his stomach, chest, and legs. His body laid in the pool of his own blood which was increasing by the second. Flowing in my direction. I watched with widened eyes. He was torn to shreds. when my eyes traveled to the disfigured head. I shuddered. A shiver ran up my spine. Dew took a quick inhale and watched everything unfold. I felt fear run through my body. There stood my mate, his nostrils flaring, blood dripping from his sharp fangs. His chest heaved up and down with restraint. His snow white fur covered in blood. He threw away the head. Even from here, I could feel the anger and blood lust emitting in waves from him.

As tho sensing my gaze, his head whipped in my direction, his eyes were now back to their green ones. Realization hit him, in one swift move, he covered the scene from my eyes but it was too late. I had seen every single action unfold right before my eyes. Guilt flashed in his eyes and then it was gone. A shaky breath escaped me and I shuddered. I closed my eyes truing to even out my breath. And when I opened my eyes, rage took over me. I was engulfed with anger and disgust. He could have captured him, or let me capture him as he was originally my target. A low growl escaped my throat. He looked slightly taken aback with the intensity of my emotions. A small hint of regret crossed his cold features, it was very hard to detect and if I wasn’t of alpha blood myself, no one could detect his change of emotions which happened in a blink.

Before I could do anything, he took a hesitant step back as though I was a poison to him. A muscle ticked in his strong jaws. It looked like he was restraining himself. I masked my hurt, shock and sadness and saving my pride I readied myself to sprint far away from here. My eyes caught sight of the wolves standing alerted a fair distance away from him in a half circle. They seemed to be his pack members. All of them were ripped and had muscular body but not as much as him, even in his wolf form his muscles were ripped and his body was oozing power and authority and demanded submission. Their faces were blank as well and their heads were slightly bowed in the presence of their alpha. Some of them sneaked a peak towards me as not to get noticed by their alpha. But one growl from him and they turned their heads away in fear.

“I think they know we are their luna. Unlike mate who not only refused to acknowledge us as his mate but rejected us” I scoffed to Dew. A pang of hurt shot through me.

Dew whimpered painfully seeing everything unfold. I was now getting worried. Nothing could ever make her feel down. She was a strong spirited and fierce wolf and as my other half I have to make sure she is safe physically and emotionally. I have to get us out of here. If our mate wanted us he would be overjoyed and marked us on the spot and normal werewolves do. But he clearly doesn’t want us and rejected us. A strong pang of pain shot through my chest and I had to bit my tongue to avoid any detection. But my face contorted to one of pain. I masked it well but it couldn’t escape my mates observant eyes and through his guarded mask, I saw a flash of concern, panic and regret in his eyes but it was immediately masked away as though it was never there and in it’s place was the previous cold hearted alpha. I looked away. Another pang shot right through my heart and I struggled to breath. I had to resist the urge to double over in pain. My eyes watered but I refused to show any weakness to him.

It looked like he wanted to take a step towards me but seeing the hesitance in his eyes was the last straw for me. I searched his eyes for any sign of recognition or acceptance but found none and was met with the cold emotionless exterior. Giving him one last glance, my own laced with hurt and dejection, giving him a look into what he’s done to me, and without looking for his reaction, I turned away from him and sprinted for the woods back towards my home. I passed through the woods and when I sensed he didn’t even try to follow. My wolf released a painful heart wrenching howl.

“Are you alright my Dew?” I asked her gently in a whisper. She didn’t reply but I sensed her sorrow and she too felt rejected by our mate and the sadness and hurt of those events hit us like a brick of wall. She moved to the farthest corners of my brain. And I lost my only best friend. A lone tear escaped my eye and I sped up to get as far away from him as possible.
