Chapter 1
The last bullet left the nuzzle on his rifle with a deafening bang. It took with all his hopes of survival.
He reached for a sharp knife held at his bootstrap. He wasn't going out without a fight! He heard growling as he readied himself as the big brown bear attacked him.
The man slashed the bear right in the face as the bear roared. "You will not defeat me as I the 'Great Samuel Lang' will finally defeat a bear and bring home something worthy.'' Ever since King Arthur was king for more than 3 years he has been wanting to be like him, so seeing a strange weapon and killing the bear will make him the most respected in his village.
The bear attacked again and scratched the man's stomach as he coughed up blood. The bear pounced on him as it scratched his face, but Sam steadied his knife while holding his stomach and stabbed the bear in the neck multiple times as it fell on top of him - not moving.
It took 3 hours for Sam to get away from under the bear and he huffed. He slung his rifle over his shoulder and put the knife back in his bootstrap as he bandages himself up - with all his strengths he picked up the bear while groaning in pain. He walked down the grove and saw a small village filled with people as they stopped and looked at Sam and gawked. Sam dryly smirked as he pass them and went into his own home with his own family.
He walked up the steps aggressively holding the bear in place as he walked into his home.
He heard screaming and yelling as he slammed the bear down to the ground and everyone turned around hear the loud thump while Samuel was smiling.
A pregnant woman came up to him touching his face. "Samuel, what happened to you?'' she asked.
Samuel kissed his lips. "Nothing, Marilyn, I just brought home dinner.'' he said to his wife.
"But your face'' she looked down at his abdomen and gasped "and your stomach-''
"- will be healed. Don't worry, dear.''
"Daddy, what's that?'' a little girl pointed at his rifle.
"I have no idea. But I know it can shoot things.'' he said.
"Yeah, but where did you get that?'' Marilyn asked. "I don't know, while I was fighting the bear it appeared out of nowhere.''he answered.
"So we're having bear for dinner?'' the other little girl asked.
"Yes, Marjorie, and for probably a month or more so we don't starve.''
"That's very sweet, but I'm already cooking.''
"No, its fine I could put somewhere that might not stink up the house,'' Sam dragged the dead bear out somewhere.
His oldest daughter Henrietta and Marjorie were playing in their seats when Marilyn came out and placed cut up chickens on their plate and they ate. Same went over to his wife and kissed her on the forehead. "Hey,'' he mumbled.
"Hi.'' she said.
He went down to his knees, and kissed her pregnant belly. "Hello, Gregory, I hope you're not hurting your mother, cause you know she's having back pains.''
Marilyn winced in pain. "I think he knows, Sam. The kicks are hurting my side.''
"I just wanna make sure.'' Both of them sat down and ate their dinner.
"Sweetie, did you know that a letter came from King Arthur's messenger saying he wants to have us and the entire people in the Cornwall village at his ball to celebrate the anniversary of him becoming king.''
Sam choked on his chicken as he couldn't believe his ears. "Are you okay?'' he ignored his wife and was thinking about meeting his favorite person ever since he was a teenager.
He smiled wide. "When is it?''
"Tomorrow night.''
