Prologue
In an alternate universe, kingdoms and clans still scatter the earth, majestic and dangerous beasts roaming the land. Each beast is born with an owner it is destined to have. The exceptions to this rule are beasts that’s owners are not of age yet (spanning 16 to 19 years of age), their owners have passed away, or they have not found an owner yet or refuse to have one.
Your nobility and status as a civilian is mostly measured by the power of your beast. If your beast is a measly barn animal, you’re most likely a peasant. If your beast is a healthy, strong lion, you may be among the rich socialites. However, royals get the best of the best. Royals are born with the most powerful beasts imaginable.
Yet, it is still important to note that they can only be sure of so few things about the mystery of beasts and the ownership of beasts. There is still so much to learn, and most of what they know are unstable theories, assumed and passed on from generation to generation, government to their people.
We start our story in the great, prosperous, and very snowy Querencia Kingdom, located just below the Aethelinda Mountain Range, where the most powerful beast to ever walk the earth rests in a cave in the tallest mountain.
