Chapter 1
Location : Forest of Vilderia
in the dense forest, there was a towering being that protected it from evil. He was a towering figure that stood over seven feet tall, dark and thick fur covered his body and he had a gleam in his eyes that said he yearned for battle. A giant ax fell across his shoulder blades. He wore leather armor and the giant ax had dried up blood on it from his latest kill. He walked to the center of the forest, a clearing and there was a stack of wood and a fire pit that was made out of stones, rocks, twigs and some dirt. He walked over to the stack of wood and threw some on the fire pit. He stacked the wood in the shape of a triangle. He smirked and then formed a fireball in his right hand and threw it at the aforementioned formed wood.
“It has been an uneventful day.” Gris said as he sat down on a stump where a tree had been previously. There was a bunch of fileted venison on a wooden table that was close to the fire, it wasn’t too close though. You know a wooden table with your food on it catching fire wouldn’t be such a good thing, now he would wash off the blood that had been dried onto his blade when he would find a water source. There had been rumors from Vilderia that there were vile beings in the forest. There had been tales of goblins, demons and orcs in the area and he was taking it upon himself to clear those vile beings of HIS FOREST.
This forest was roughly fifteen miles from a small village named Oakwood. The village was a simple lumber town, they cut down trees and made stuff like paper, wooden toys, lumber and houses. He has made his home in that village for quite some time. There is a giant lake by one of the lumber mills and he goes to fish there sometimes, he fishes both ways, with his paws and a fish pole. His paws do look like fur covered hands with giant razor sharp nails. Now he liked the calmness and serene feeling of the forest, he also liked the darkness and the mystery of what might be out there. There could possibly be some undiscovered beast out here and that might be rather fun to fight.
His stomach started to rumble out of hunger and he put his paws on his stomach and then shook his head from side-to-side. “Oh boy, looks like I need to make a snack.” a smile formed on his face as he walked over to the wood pile and then constructed a few giant wooden rods to cook the meat on. He took some of the deer meat and then pushed it onto the end of the stick and planted the stick in the ground near the fire, he positioned it so the meat was over a hot flame.
He watched the flames start to flicker and he could see the colors change within the fire, the fire had hues of blue, white and orange within it. His eyes focused on the fire and he could see and smell the meat cooking. He watched the raw meat which had a bright reddish color start to turn a darker color. It was turning a brown color with hints of black in it. That meant the meat was getting cooked through. The smell of cooked meat filled the area. He knew this was going to attract hungry animals, he was going to need to eat the meat as soon as it was done cooking. In a few moments the meat would be done, he looked over at the cooked meat and it was almost black. It wasn’t burnt, just well done. He reached and grabbed the spear that had the piece of meat on it and he took the meat off of the spear and it was still piping hot. He blew on the piece of meat and then shoved it into his mouth and began to chew on it.
He opened his mouth and some of the steam came out of his mouth. He started sweating from the heat, he chewed some more and then swallowed it. It tasted good and he felt a bit nourished at the moment and then he heard some movement from a nearby bush, it sounded like a small creature of sorts. He grabbed his ax and looked towards the bush. If it was a small creature the ax would be a bit overkill.
“Whatever you are.” He stared at the bush holding his ax tightly in his hand. “Come out and show yourself!″ At this point one of two things popped into his mind, it could be a harmless rabbit or it could be a goblin. He wanted it to be a goblin, he wouldn’t feel bad about killing a goblin. Now a rabbit on the other hand, he’d feel bad about killing. He could hear some inaudible chatter, he didn’t know if it was coming from the bush or something closer. He walked towards the bush and when he was a few feet away from it he kicked the bush. When he kicked the bush a bunch of birds flew out of it. Had these birds been the source of the noise he had heard?
“Be glad I woke up today and didn’t choose violence.” a smirk crawled on his face. Now there was an energy he had never felt before in the forest, something was watching him and he knew it. He really wanted to know what it was. Maybe it was one of those goblins or orcs that had been rumored to roam in the forest. Whatever it was, he was probably bigger than it. Fighting an orc might be slightly amusing to him though. He walked back over to where the fire was and stared at it for a few moments.
