Isolated Society

Do you ever feel as if you are not present in reality? Like everytime you say a word your voice is drowned out by the others that want to be heard too. Like you are in the moment but watching everything happening from another perspective. All you can feel is your body, it’s quiet, still. Like you are in a bubble that can’t pop or you are drifting in space. You are there but you aren’t. It doesn’t always make sense, it doesn’t always feel great, you may feel the unbearable pressure to be there for everyone and everything.

Every moment

every second

every tick of the clock...

but it’s okay. It’s okay to let yourself be still, to listen to the muffled voices as you distance yourself from all the pressure. We are trapped in society and the lies and the truths and the goodbyes and the relationships, new and old. It’s a roller coaster called life but if you feel alone, know that everyone is riding the roller coaster too.

This distance that we do, it’s human. We are all human.

I know the feeling of isolation, of living on an island in a sea of people but I also have come to terms with the fact that I am not alone.

I know the feeling of anxiety, how it feels like you are trapped in a prison your mind created.

I know the feeling of sadness, of the tears streaming down my face in rivers, enough to create an ocean. But all of these emotions, they’re human.

I know the feeling of happiness, of seeing the person that can brighten a room and everything feels okay.

I know the feeling of anger, of wanting to scream but you can’t.

I know the feeling. We all do. We all compare ourselves to one another, wanting to be like each other, wanting to seem perfect all the time. But it’s not real. No one is perfect. No one is the same. But we are all connected because we feel. We love. We cry.

It always seems like you can’t get control. Like you are the driver but the wheels and the brakes are broken. Like you are the captain of the ship but the swells are too big to fight. We have voices, lovely voices, but sometimes they are silenced. Sometimes we have issues that we have to fight alone, but we are never alone. Because we are all human.
