Chapter 1

Kani's eyes were barely opened as she scanned people's books fot what felt like the millionth time. "Kani." "Hi Ms. Carter." "I'm glad you're here. I need for you to get me a book on baseball biographies please." "Of course. I didn't know you like baseball." "Well of course. I mean my husband is a baseball coach. I want to suprise him with a few things." Kani raised a brow. "A few things- Stay a kid child." "I'm 18." "Still a child." She chuckled. She searched for some baseball related books then handed them to Ms. Carter. "Any of those good?" "Perfect. Thank you Kani." "Your welcome." "Me and my family are going on the boat tomorrow. I would love to see you and your sister there." "Um. I don't know- Please? You do so much." "My sister is- A cheerleader. Yes, I know. But she should be free tomorrow. And a few boys will be there from the baseball team. Maybe you can hitch a date." She nodded, not seeing it. "When is it?" "Everyone is allowed to come by 5am to 12pm before the boat leaves and no one else will be able to come. You can invite anyone if you'd like." "Thanks Ms. Carter. I'll keep that in mind." "I hope you come." "I'll think about it." "Ok." Ms. Carter walked out of the library. Kani sighed. Hopefully a certain baseball player wouldn't be there.

Later the next day

Kani found herself in a long and pretty black dress. It was a bodycon dress. She frowned in the mirror. She wanted to be prettier, hotter, like the cheerleaders. All she ever wanted was to be on the team but she was denied because she wasn't beautiful and seductive like the rest of the girls. She still wore braces and she was getting tired of hiding all of the freckles that cover her body. She walked down the steps and into her garage. She walked outside, heading straight forward to the boat. Kani kind of didn't want to be humiliated but she also didn't want to let Ms. Carter down. Eventually she found herself walking in between a bunch of other cars. Lambos, trucks, ferraris, jeeps, and a bunch more. She walked onto the bridge that lead to the boat. People were laughing and talking loudly as they ran past her to the boat. She was mesmerized by the beautiful boat. It was big and shiny. Covered in the design of a baseball and the baseball team's name. Her eyes scanned over the people, and stopped at her stepsister. Her stepsister was curvy and pretty. She had the most beautiful hair the was shiny and dark brown. She was sitting on a guy's lap, smoking something that most definitely was not a  cigarette or weed. Suddenly she felt an arm wrap around her shoulder. "I'm so glad you made it. You wanna take a tour?" "No thank you Ms. Carter. You've done enough." A random woman walked up to them with wine glasses. They both took a cup, giving the woman a slight smile before she walked away. "Oh. There he is. Lance! Come here!" She shouted at her husband. He walked over after saying a few words to some other men. His head was full of grey hairs. He didn't look 56 at all in the face. "Hi. I miss something important?" "This is Kani, the girl I was talking about." "Ah. Nice to finally meet you Kani." She nodded feeling a bit awkward. "Same for you sir." "Sorry to ruin the moment but I do have some business to take care of with my team then we can have a quick convo. In the meantime, enjoy your time here. You plan on staying till tomorrow?" "Yeah. If there is any rooms left." Ms. Carter squealed catching their attention. Lance chuckled. "We have enough rooms. Thank you for coming." He kissed his wife on the cheek before walking away. "Please can I show you the rooms?" "Yes." "Yes!" Ms. Carter pulled her along.
