The lights were dim, the music pounding out of speakers everywhere and I was attempting to get a drink, waiting patiently at the bar. As the bartender came over to me, I stood straighter, finally.

“What can I get you?” He asked me, a small smile on my face.

“Brandy and coke,” a voice said next to me, and I looked up, catching the side of his face.

“I think you will find I was first!” I shouted back and the bartender cleared his throat, me looking back at him.

“She was first,” he chuckled nervously.

“Then I will get it, what do you want?” The stranger asked me, and I kept my eyes on the bartender.

“Rum and cranberry please,” I smiled, and he nodded, walking away. “Thank you,” I said, finally looking up at him.

“You’re welcome, come to my table,” he said firmly, and I moved my head back, chuckling. I could hardly see him in this light, but he was tall, towering over me and his shoulders were broad, his hair cut short.

“No, I’m fine, thank you for the drink,” I smiled, taking it off the bartender and walking back towards my group of friends. We were out for Freddy, my bestest friend in the whole wide world who was weeks away from moving to the other side of the world, but I was currently ignoring that very depressing situation as I walked towards her, her hips moving to the music. Her skin was dark, her hair in two buns at the nape of her neck, her arm going around my shoulder.

“Who the fuck was you talking to at the bar?” She asked me, slurring her words.

“Some prick who wanted to push in,” I blew out, before taking a sip of my drink.

“From here he looked fine,” she cackled, moving into the middle of the group. I watched as they danced, finishing my drink and deciding to piss by myself for the first time tonight. The lights in the hall for the bathrooms were bright and I went into the ladies, giving myself a quick check in the mirror first. My dark hair was pulled back into a ponytail, my natural ringlets trying to break free as usual. My dress was long compared to some of the other girls, stripped black and teal, it tight against my body. In all honesty I was absolutely shattered, and I washed my hands after using the bathroom, throwing the hand towel into the bin as I walked back into the corridor, a partly familiar face greeting me.

“I asked you to come to my table,” his voice was strong, his accent a mix of English and American. As I looked up and got a good look at him Freddy was right, he was fine as fuck. His skin was almost the perfect brown, his eyes bright and a beautiful hazel colour. He had a tribal tattoo on his neck, but it was his lips I couldn’t stop staring at, like two pillows and he licked his bottom lip, nearly making me scream.

“And I told you no thank you,” I tipped my head to the side.

“Women don’t say no to me,” he said roughly, and I moved my head back, just fucking ew.

“This one certainly does,” I chuckled, trying to walk away and he grabbed my wrist, pulling me back slightly.

“What’s your name?” He asked, looking at me up and down.

“Avery,” I told him firmly, “yours?”

“Amari,” he said softly, looking up from my tits to my face. “You are very beautiful,” he told me, and I blushed slightly, moving from one foot to the other.

“Thank you, but I need to get back to my friends,” I moved closer to the door, and he let go of my wrist, saying nothing as I walked back into the club.
