Chapter 1
“Okay everyone! That’s it for today!” Fatima yelled to the group of about fifty people who were auditioning to be the next set of Bayside Boys dancers.
“I hope you all filled in the applications and I’ll call you if you made it. It’s been a long day and we all need a rest.”
Sydney Maori let out a sigh of agreement and headed for her bag at the corner of the room. She loved dancing and she really, really wanted to be one of the BB dancers, but for one reason and one reason only. She turned her head and her eyes locked with that reason.
AJ McIntyre looked up at that very moment and his brown eyes locked with a pair of green ones. There was something about that way she was looking at him that made a shiver go down his spine. She was beautiful, he couldn’t deny that. But he could see that there was more to her than just her beauty. She had long, brown hair with gold highlights and the greenest eyes he had ever seen. He’d noticed them right away. They seemed hypnotic somehow, and it took some effort for him to tear his gaze away from her. She smiled when he did. She loved a good challenge.
“AJ? AJ?” Rory said snapping his fingers, “Are you listening to me or are you too busy staring at that cute brunette with the green eyes?” he smirked.
“I was staring at the cute brunette with the green eyes.” AJ stated with a smile, turning back to his best friend.
“Thought so.” Rory replied, “Why don’t you ask her out?”
“You know I can’t do that.” AJ said.
“Why not?”
“Because she’s one of the best dancers here today so it’s very likely that she’ll make it and when she does, she’s going to be on tour with us and I don’t want to have both a personal and a professional relationship with her. I can’t do that. It’s either one or the other.” AJ explained, knowing how that it come back and bite you in the ass.
Rory now understood.
“Well, she’s not in yet, so you’re free to ask her out.”
“But what if she gets in? And you know she’s going to get in, you saw the way that girl moved!” AJ stated.
“You’ll decide then, after you’ve gotten to meet her and know her a little, you’ll know what you want to do.” Rory advised.
"Suppose I want her?”
“Then you can make it work! Actually I think it would be better for you if she makes it. Then you can see each other all the time.” Rory said.
“I guess so but remember my last relationship with Christina?” AJ asked.
“Oh yeah.” Rory said softly, “I’d forgotten that. Maybe you’re right. You don’t want history to repeat itself.”
AJ looked up again and saw her looking at him. He decided to leave it all up to destiny. If it was meant to happen than it will happen. If not...
Sydney knew that they were talking about her because they kept glancing her way every five seconds. She knew she was beautiful. Every guy she met had told her that after they fell over each other at the sight of her. But she didn’t want all those guys. She wanted this one. She wanted AJ. And she was going to make damn sure that there was, and never will be anything to stop her from getting him.
