Chapter 1: She And

She’s brought down.

By her very own bullets,

She’s shot down.

In her very own blood,

She drowns.

By her very own curse,

She’s bound.

Look in the water.

Behold your very own.

”I love you,” I lie.

”You will never be enough,” she replies.

Only diamond cuts diamond.

Yet a mere iron blade tortures hers.

Eyes like almonds,

She watches patiently till she feels the edge leave scars.

”Beautiful girl,” I say,

You are gifted with the gold of your people.

Eyes of warmth, they lead me to your soul.

Lips, dark like the night, they surely will bring me the stars.

Hair, a wild fire, untamed and free.

Like the spirit you keep within.

”I prefer them cold,” she retorts.

Lips, bright and pearly.

Hair, soft, and tame.

Like the soul I want.

Like the soul she wants

”I will never be enough.”

She is bound in chains,

And she cries to be free.

She certainly is in pain.

Yet, in her hands, she keeps the keys.

Let me free.

Perhaps someday,

I can look her in her eyes.

And she will look into mine.

And I will see beauty.

And she may love me.
