Great Poems!

"Musings of a Mad Mind is a quick read. Short poems with tremendous insight into society, life, and self. Phrasing and word choices paint a picture that is too close for comfort but yet exactly what the world and life is like."

Musings of A Mad Mind

"Musings of A Mad Mind is an evocative collection that masterfully utilizes abstract imagery and sharp metaphors to navigate the complexities of the human psyche. The work excels in its ability to transform mundane realities such as daily labor, domesticity, and modern consumerism, into profound reflections on identity and aging. With a rhythmic, punchy cadence and a raw, introspective tone, the poet creates a compelling narrative of vulnerability that is both intellectually stimulating and emotionally resonant. It stands as a sophisticated exploration of the internal chaos and mundane madness of contemporary life."

Fragments of feeling

"This collection is a deeply evocative journey through emotion, where each poem feels like a fragment of something both fragile and powerful🖤 The writing is intimate, capturing moments of vulnerability, longing, and quiet strength with remarkable clarity. There is a beautiful balance between darkness and light, making the work resonate on a personal level while remaining universally relatable. A compelling and heartfelt collection that lingers with the reader long after the final line🖤"

A Mad Mind Worth Reading!

"Lauren gives us a beautifully thoughtful and insightful look into not only her “mad mind,” but the world around us. I read the first five poems per the judging criteria of the Green Exchange Awards 2026, and am very interested in seeing where the rest of her poetry collection takes us! I found her freestyle poetry presents an ethereal, hazy world that touches on darkness without being overly cynical or dramatic. Her ‘mad mind’ is thoughtful (museful, dare I say) first and foremost, while admitting that the world is full of shallowness, need, death, and a desire to hide away from it all. Technically speaking, her voice is clear and her verbiage colorful. I felt a couple of poems were a bit tricky to decipher, but I’m so glad I took the time to savor and pick them apart, for the depth and insightfulness that lay beneath the surface. Her freestyle verse flows effortlessly for the most part with rare grammatical/technical errors. I highly recommend! Lauren, thank you for sharing these intense, yet beautiful bits of YOU! 💖"

Mad Muse

"This book is a series of short, standalone poems and prose pieces that feel like fragments of a restless mind. Each chapter takes on a new metaphor replicas, echoes, greed, illusions, hunger, running, ticking clocks, timeless voids, whispers, authority. Together, they don’t form a traditional plot, but they do create a mood [i thoerize]: a journey through identity, loss, numbness, and the fragile rediscovery of meaning. Or... It all just mad ramblings.. as it should be or shouldn't be. We are all mad here! "

Raw and Honest

"Lauren does so well with honestly communicating the raw dark emotions that are experienced in various situations in life. I did not relate to all of these chapters, but that is to be expected. I related (and better understood) the ones that I have lived and experienced, and they made me feel validated. Thank you!"

Raw and breathtaking

"I loved the writing style and imagery so much. As someone who writes and sings, there were so many parts here that have inspired me to write music. I feel like this is the closest I’ve found to the classic poetry. 10/10 recommended! "

Very Well Done!

"Poetry is easily hard. The fight against continuous verses that do nothing but spin the reader in circles, is real. YOU on the other hand, you give us just enough to keep going forward. I commend you and your craft! My greatest compliment is, "I wish I could write like that!""

"I am very much in love with your poetry. It is pretty profound and doesn't belittle the audience. The themes are also relevant and understanding. Its bad enough that people treat others with indifference, but then again, it's the world we live in. Keep up the good work. "

Beautiful Poetry

"Poetry is a genre I'm so new to but it doesn't take extensive poetry knowledge to know how well the author can string together metaphors to build her poems, leaving these strong themes that felt relatable in moments. Lines don't linger any longer than they needed and creates a great flow. Proof not all poems have to rhyme. I appreciate the author's style, stringing together more straightforward moments with long running metaphors and beautiful descriptions to create an idea and look forward to reading more poems. Also really liked the cover, the splotches that remind me of ink gave the impression of this literally being parts of Lauren's mind splattered in the ink. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it but it's a great cover, beautiful yet readable script. All in all, great work!"

Absolutely stunning!

"I love what has been posted so far! The author is a very talented poet and narrative writer. Her use of metaphors is very accurate and enhances each poem. She also has a rich repertoire of vocabulary, and every word was carefully chosen. I re-read every poem at least 3 times, and I enjoyed each time even more! I am really looking forward to more poems being posted in this book. If you enjoy this book and are interested in shifter fiction, I also suggest that you read "The Rebellious Mate", by the same author. "

Whispers of self; echoes of the past ... these poems draw the reader right in

"From fragments of identity to echoes of memory, the first five poems that I've read pull the reader into a world both haunting and intimately familiar. Across all five poems, consistent motifs, strong metaphors, and strong structural techniques create a rhythm that mirrors the speaker’s fragmented yet coherent inner world. The poet blends structural sophistication with emotional resonance, making each poem both a standalone experience and part of a cohesive exploration of memory, self, and the persistence of the past. The best 2 poems in my opinion are "The Echos" and "I See Her Every Day". "The Echos" demonstrates the poet’s command of structure within free verse, with a clear psychological arc: truth appears, is denied, a mental refuge is built, suppressed truths return, and awareness is postponed. Single-line stanzas, repeated phrases, and enjambment guide the reader through this progression. "I See Her Every Day" rewards multiple readings, each time revealing deeper meaning. It layers memory, obsession, and vivid imagery, with bracketed lines throughout the poem, mirroring the shadow of "her" being trapped in “parenthesis of dates”. Repetition, italics, and careful line breaks highlight key moments and create lasting emotional impact. I would 100% recommend 🖤 ** The writer might consider developing the blurb further, to give readers a clearer sense of the themes and emotional journey within the collection."
