Chapter 1

Kevyn stopped his motorcycle outside a coffee shop, pulling the kickstand with practiced ease. He tugged off his helmet, brushing his hair back into place with a hand as a group of girls across the street called out his name and waved. He just ignored them and got down from his motorcycle.

Popularity had been that hectic.

Everyone pretty much adored him because of how undeniably handsome he was and he always bragged about that fact. And not to mention he was the captain of the football team in his school and he had once played for the city, that sure boosted his popularity rate. But he’d always shrug it off as, “no big deal”.

He walked into the coffee shop with evident confidence, waving at the Batista behind the counter in a white uniform. The girl waved back, loosing her hair from the bun it was in and flipping it with a flirtatious smile at him. He winked at her before walking over to a guy in a brown jacket that mirrored his hair.

The guy sat alone at a table, looking very attractive too as he sipped from his coffee, his eyes fixed on his tablet.

“Yo, Eric. I’m here.” Kevyn adjusted his black leather jacket before slouching on a chair opposite the guy, Eric.

Eric looked up at him. “What’s up, lil’ bro? What took ya?” He set aside his tablet to focus on Kevyn.

“Some stuff.” Kevyn shrugged.

“Thought so.” Eric smirked. The brothers shared striking features, though Kevyn being younger really edged him out as more handsome. “So...wanna go clubbing tonight?” He took a sip of his coffee again.

Kevyn leaned forward, smirking. “Maybe. But you never gave me that girl’s number last —”

A sharp yank of their ears cut him off.

“Ahh —”

“Ahh —”

They both groaned in pain, looking over to see that it was their older sister, Evelyn, also the owner of the coffee shop. She glared down at them. “Little pigs. And you, Eric — telling your little brother to go to a club with you, what a great guardian you are”. She blew a stray hair from her face, exasperated.

“Alright, I’m sorry, Evelyn. Let this go, please.” Eric pleaded, wincing from the pain of having his ear almost pulled out.

“I’m disappointed in you guys.” Evelyn released them and they quickly rubbed their throbbing ears. “Coming to my shop to talk about clubbing.” She loosened her fairly brown hair and retied it neatly.

“Ugh. You’re such a party pooper.” Kevyn whined. He always regressed around his older sister — childish and coddled.

Evelyn was really beautiful, nice and probably overprotective of him. She hated his bad-boy-act and always tried to talk him out of it, but Eric, being a player himself, only fueled it. Since they lived together.

“I won’t mind checking on you guys every weekend so that I can —” Evelyn cut herself short, spotting a familiar face enter the shop. “I’ll deal with you guys later.” She nagged again before walking off.

“Don’t ever call me here to talk about stuff like this.” Kevyn prodded his reddened ear.

“Be glad she’s married.” Eric muttered. “Or she’d still be living with us and our lives will be a living hell.” But Kevyn wasn’t listening anymore as his eyes caught a girl sitting at a table, at a corner of the room.

She seemed to be about his age and... God, does she look beautiful. She was wearing a short flowery dress and denim jacket, with white high boots.

“Hey, hey, hey —” Kevyn tapped his brother’s hand.

“What?, what?” Eric kept his hand from him.

“See that girl over there?” Kevyn nodded toward the girl, who was now engrossed with something on her phone.

“Yeah?” Eric turned to look at who he was grinning at. “Wow.” He whistled.

“Exactly.” Kevyn traced his chin with a finger, really admiring her wavy black hair, long batting lashes, delicate nose and her perfectly shaped lips. “Man, she’s so hot.”

“Yeah, she is.” Eric turned back to smirk at him. You’re gonna make a move?”

“Well...” Kevyn debated on whether or not he was going to approach her. Then the girl stood, gathered her things and they both watched her walk out of the shop.

“Oh, there goes your exotic beauty.” Eric teased. “Unless you wanna go after her.”

Kevyn scoffed. “Nah. Just thought she looked pretty”.

“Prettier than your usual?” Eric smirked.

Kevyn frowned at him before conceding. “Yeah, you’re right”.

Eric chuckled.
