Chapter 1. The way it's gonna be

Impatiently, he holds the pencil between his fingers. The sound of the object hitting the test paper full of unanswered questions doesn't bother his classmates who are focused on getting a good grade, but it makes it clear that the boy is counting the seconds to escape from that place.

His mind is far away, on someone much more important than a school test. God knows life is much more complicated than that.

His brother was in trouble and even though he wanted to, Daniel didn't know how to help his best friend.

His family is falling apart because of the blind hatred of the boys' parents who cannot accept the fact that they have a gay son and decided to forget the existence of one of the twins, as if he had never existed.

When the bell rings indicating the end of the last class of the day and the last chance to get better grades, Daniel just throws the material in his backpack and leaves the blank test on the teacher's desk, receiving a disapproving look from the teacher who has no idea of the problems he is facing at home at the moment.

Automatically, he walks through the school corridors, ignoring the friends who try to get his attention along the way. Before long, his steps lead him to an empty house, because his parents are at work and his brother was banished from the family for having committed the crime of being who he is or more specifically for loving the boy who has lived in his heart for just over a year in secret until they were discovered in David's room two days ago.

Pacing back and forth in his room with the phone ringing his brother's number, he prays to be answered by David "Come on, answer it." He still doesn't know his brother's whereabouts even though he hasn't rejected him.

It all happened so quickly and so traumatic. One moment David was in the bedroom with his friend, his mother was in the kitchen, and he was on the couch browsing nonsense on Instagram when their father comes into the house furious, shouting and invading his brother's room with photos of David kissing his friend Jack.

In shock, Daniel just watches everything in silence, not because his brother loves another boy but for seeing his father act so violently for the first time in his life.

Unfortunately for David, their mother was in shock for all the wrong reasons and did nothing to defend or stop Bob from dragging her sixteen-year-old son out of the house along with his supposed boyfriend.

Hearing the cell phone ring insistently David runs his hands over his face, failing miserably to ignore his brother's call "Aren't you going to answer?" Not even the loving voice of his boyfriend is enough to drive away the devastating fear of contempt from his brother and best friend, the only one he wanted to tell about his secret relationship with Matheus.

Breathing deeply while receiving support from his boyfriend in the form of a tight hug, the answer finally leaves his trembling lips "What if he hates me now?" Matt responds after a short pause, trying to find the right words in that moment of uncertainty " I believe your brother is better than this, but if the worst happens you won't be alone my love".

The phone rings again in the middle of their passionate kiss and this time David finds the courage to answer the call "If you called to reject me, you better know that you don't have the right to humiliate me like our parents did."

Knowing that his boyfriend needs some alone time with his brother, Matt takes David's hand as a silent form of support and leaves the room, closing the door.

"Sorry, I just didn't know ... Thank you for accepting me brother, it means a lot to me! "He lets out a breath he didn't know he had been holding for so long. It's a relief to have Daniel's support again, even though his brother hadn't really abandoned him. "I'm with Matt, his parents are wonderful!" It hurts to admit out loud the resentment of not having the same support from your own parents, but it's not something you could ignore for much longer, after being kicked out of the house like that.

After hearing his brother ask to meet him, a smile forms on the corner of his lips at the same time that the doubt of where they could meet hits his chest painfully, because his life will never be the same again. He doesn't feel at home anywhere and doesn't feel like talking about the latest events with his brother in a public place. "I'll talk to Matt and see if we can talk here...I'll text you later! And thanks again for not hating me... Love you too bro!"

Minutes later, Matt returns to the room, certain that Daniel would not have the same prejudiced attitude as his parents and would accept his brother "I thought you might be hungry since you barely ate anything for lunch!" Seeing the smile on David's face again is wonderful and he can't help but smile as he hands over the plate of his love's favorite sandwich.

"Thanks! I think I'm really hungry" David takes the sandwich in his hands and takes a huge bite, trying to smile while chewing to thank the best boyfriend in the world for the loving gesture.

"How was it with Daniel?" David finishes swallowing and responds smiling at being able to say that he still has a brother, despite no longer being able to count on his parents. "He doesn't hate me! He wants to find me and bring me some of my things that were left behind". Unable to contain himself, Matt wraps his arms around David, causing his boyfriend to leave the plate with the rest of the sandwich aside on the bed."I'm so happy for you! When is he coming?"

Leaving the arms of the one who is and will always be his first great love, David smile and take courage to face the embarrassing moment of having to receive visitors in a house that is not really yours, in which you live for an indefinite period of time, depending on the charity from your boyfriend's parents. "So, is it okay for him to visit me here?" After a quick kiss Matt responds with a charming smile saying all the words David was hoping to hear leaving his lips.

"Everything has changed so quickly and I know it's hard for you. I mean, I know living with my parents isn't the perfect scenario but I'm very happy to be with you at this moment, sharing this room and my life with you."

"Your parents are amazing and I am so grateful that we are together, especially now..."

Matt holds his boyfriend's face between his hands without looking away so that there is no doubt as to what he was trying to say. "I love you! Living with you has been part of my plans since the moment I met you and one day it will be in a house of our own, but for now it will have to be here.It needs to be enough! And for that to work you need to start feeling at home by my side."

Feeling the tears wetting his face, still in the hands of his love, David nods at the same time as Matt wipes away the tears from his face.

"I love you so much, Matt!"

"I know you do!" David punches his boyfriend, the smile never leaving his face as he responds to Matt's confident attitude. "Idiot!"

"Come here!" The two kiss passionately, with total surrender to the love that accelerates the beating of their hearts, until they have to stop to catch their breath, seeing an entire future together in each other's eyes.
