Chapter 1: Tampa U
[TAMPA UNIVERSITY HOCKEY BROADCAST]
SMITH:
“And there goes #40—Liam Henderson flying down the ice on a breakaway and—SCOOOORE! Man, that kid might be part machine!”
JOHNSON:
“You’re not kidding, Smith. Henderson is lighting up the college hockey world. Only nineteen, and already a top contender for the captaincy.”
SMITH:
“Nineteen? That’s insane. The kid’s just a sophomore!”
JOHNSON:
“Yep—and with his bloodline, it’s no surprise.”
SMITH:
“Oh, let’s hear it. You know our listeners love the family gossip.”
JOHNSON:
“Well, don’t let the last name fool you. Liam Henderson comes from a serious sports dynasty. For starters—he’s the nephew of Alex Coulter.”
SMITH:
“Alex Coulter? The Seattle Seawolves legend?”
JOHNSON:
“That’s the one. Before Seattle, Coulter played over a decade with the Colorado Yeti—won two Cups there. Retired a few years back.”
SMITH:
“So you’re saying Henderson’s uncle is one of the best forwards in recent NHL history?”
JOHNSON:
“And it doesn’t stop there. He’s also the nephew of Seth Lehtinen—Finnish phenom and another former Yeti forward. He’s now coaching for New York’s AHL team, the Stampede.”
SMITH:
“I knew the kid was from Colorado, but wow. That’s some serious hockey heritage.”
JOHNSON:
“Oh, we’re not even at the crown jewel yet. His stepfather? None other than Justin Myers.”
SMITH:
“Wait— THE Justin Myers?”
JOHNSON:
“Yep. Record-breaking defenseman. Two-time Norris winner. Four-time All-Star. Current assistant coach of the Colorado Yeti. Absolute legend.”
SMITH:
“That explains the power plays. Myers was famous for his two-way game—tough as nails on defense, but lethal on offense.”
JOHNSON:
“Exactly. And though Liam kept his mom’s last name, he’s a Myers through and through. The footwork, the vision—he’s got it all.”
SMITH:
“Hold on, didn’t Justin’s dad play, too?”
JOHNSON:
“You bet. Three generations of hockey in that family. If Liam goes pro, the Myers name will have decades of NHL history behind it.”
SMITH:
“Unreal. And let’s not forget Max Thayne out there tonight—Kyle Thayne’s kid.”
JOHNSON:
“Right? The Thayne-Myers duo was one of the NHL’s all-time best defensive pairings. Now their sons are skating together at Tampa U”
SMITH:
“A Thayne and a Myers on the same college roster. Who would've thought?”
JOHNSON:
“Hockey fans, buckle up. The next generation has arrived.”
