“You're getting a new home tutor.” My head snapped towards the voice, and I saw my daddy sitting at the dining table, sipping his regular green tea with his calm expression.
“No, Daddy, not again.” I made a crying face while going towards him.
“Not again? You want to fail in Physics?” My mum came out of the kitchen while saying this.
“I won't, Mummy, I swear.” I crossed my fingers, showing them my puppy eyes, trying to melt them with my over-cuteness, but I guess this time it won't work.
“Oh no, thanks! I have enough of your 'this time.' It's decided that we are hiring a home tutor, and if you behave with him like the last ones, no one will be worse than me.” She said while putting peanut butter on the bread.
“Mummy, I won't fail this time, I swear. And besides that, Clara will be with me. We will learn together. I mean, I will learn from her.”
And her silence gave me the answer; there's no escape now.
“Okay, I am going. Bye!” I said to my parents after eating breakfast.
“Oh my, Sara!!! You're already going, baby?” I looked ahead, and my eyes lit up instantly. “Juhi auntyyyyy!” I ran towards her, hugging her tightly.
“Ow, ow, ow... Look at this big girl! Who would say she is in her 2nd year at university?” she said, kissing my temple.
I know everyone has that one favorite aunt or uncle in their family, and I am not an exception. Only chemistry has exceptions...
“Ma'am, may we go?” My driver came inside, reminding me that I was getting late for uni. “Yeah, let's go,” I said to him and turned towards Juhi aunty. “We'll talk tonight, okay?” Winking at her, I ran out of the house.
As my car came to a halt, I saw some small gatherings on the way to the science building. They were gossiping. I tried to hear them, but damn, the voices came out muffled.
What should I do with my gossip-loving mind? As I was about to ignore it, I heard a loud, piercing voice: “Saraaaa, over there...” There was my group standing on the staircase, shouting my name like goats... Anyway...
I jogged towards them. “Hey, what's up, girls!?” I gave each of them a high five. “Superb! And with the new gossip, my gosh, we are on cloud nine,” they said in unison, making me frown.
“What?” I asked them, utterly confused.
Blair was about to speak, but Clara interrupted. “Guys, if we don't move from here immediately, we will be late for our lecture, and as we are renowned for bunking class, the professor will surely kick us out this time.”
“Let's go, girls,” Sari said.
Definitely, I am not going to bunk class today, especially Physics. I don't want a home tutor. Never. And that's how we hurried towards the class.
As all of us were going towards the classroom, I halted, remembering something. “Guys, you go. I am coming in a few minutes.” They gave me a look, but without questioning anything, they went towards the classroom.
I came to my locker with a smile on my face, and the moment I opened the door, it widened. There's the chocolate again—my favorite one—with a small sticky note like every day.
“Sending you all the good energy and well wishes your way today. You deserve the best.”
That's what is written in the note, and I squealed in happiness until “Excuse me, miss.” I flinched a little upon hearing the voice. Turning my head around, I saw a person, a man, and looked at him like the delicious meal I ever had.
“You're the one?” I asked suddenly, still in my trance. “Huh!?” he asked, dumbfounded. Coming out of my trance, I smiled shyly, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. I asked again, “Isn't it you who gives me chocolate every day? We agreed to meet today. You forgot?”
“Sorry, miss, but you're missing a point, I guess. I am searching for the Physics department, class A,” he said. “And what for? To meet me, right?” Only I knew how desperately I wished it was him.
“Psycho.” Saying that, he moved forward.
What the... he called me psycho?? Me?? Saranya Rajbanshi?? Just wait and watch, Mr. Whatever.
Stomping my foot, I went towards the classroom. Without looking up, I entered the classroom and was going towards my seat. But I don't know why the classroom feels awkwardly silent today. Shrugging my shoulders, I went to my seat.
And as I was about to sit, Clara nudged my arm, indicating for me to look in front. As I looked ahead, my eyes widened. No way... No freaking way. How??? He?? OMG, he is my professor??
Suddenly, I smiled at him—not the normal one, but the awkward one. “Good morning, professor,” I greeted.
He raised an eyebrow, looking directly into my eyes. “Miss...”
“Saranya... Saranya Rajbanshi,” I corrected.
“Oh, so you can tell your full name? I thought you were just learning how to say your name?” he said, making me frown.
Seeing my reaction, he continued, “No, I mean the way you entered the room without taking permission, even when the teacher was in. No 19-year-old person does that; only a toddler does, doesn't it!?” As soon as he finished, the whole class erupted in laughter.
Darn it. How dare he roast me!? Even in front of the whole damn class? I gritted my teeth, looking down. Does he want me to say sorry? Never... Saranya Rajbanshi never said sorry to anyone.
“Mannerless,” he said and turned towards the board, and that's when it broke.
“Excuse me, professor?” I growled.
“You're excused.” He didn't even turn around to look at me.
F*ck off. He is dead. He is dead for real. It's his first and last day at work, I swear.
I was fuming with anger as I sat down; Clara rubbed my shoulder. “I want his full biodata,” I said to her.
“Till now, we just got to know his name only,” she said, looking at the front. “What is it?” I turned to Clara.
“Yuvaan Thakur.” A deep voice cut through, and I quickly turned to the front only to see him, Yuvaan Thakur, standing in front of me. “You need to know anything else about me, miss? I would be blessed to tell you.” There's a mockery in his tone, and I hate it; I hate the way he said that.
I directly looked into his eyes without flinching even slightly. Now his behavior is making me want to smash his handsome face against the wall.
I looked away from his face, rolling my eyes. “Rolling your eyes at your professor isn't a good thing, Ms. Saranya. I can give you detention on the first day of my duty, you know.” I snapped my head.
“You dare not.”
“Dare accepted. Detention for 2 hours after college. And if you don't obey, I will need to go to the Dean's office to tell him about those cringe love letters or something in your locker.” He whispered the last sentence, which only I could hear.
I froze.
I inhaled sharply before releasing. He won. He won in this matter because I don't want my daddy to know about this. If the Dean knows, he will surely tell my daddy.
Clara pressed my shoulder to tell me to stay quiet. My girl. She knows me too well. She knows if I blust it would be a disaster.
After the hell I mean the class like hell ended all my girlies stood beside me saying “That's so rude of him. How can he punish our baby like this?”
I pouted sadly then looked up. “Guys you don't need to wait for me.” I said as I know they will wait. They gave me a confused look. “And why Ms. Saranya?”
“I will tell you all tomorrow okay. For today just go to home after college.” They looked at me suspiciously but eventually nodded.
It's been 1 hour since the college is over and now, in the detention room, I was sitting alone, writing my “Fruit Basket” when the door swung open, revealing Mr. Thakur.
I turned around, not wanting to give him even a glance.
“Trust me, I have never seen a mannerless girl like you in my 27 years of life,” he said, taking a seat on the desk.
“Do you only look for girls? Really, just to see if they are mannerless or not?” I could see he was quite taken aback by my question, and that was exactly what I wanted. I smirked.
“Yeah, I have looked at three girls in my whole life: my mother, my granny, and my cousin sister. And trust me, they are not mannerless like you.” He looked down at the papers in his hands. And he dared to insult me again.
“I am done with this freaking detention of yours. You wanna tell the Dean? Go ahead. I will also tell how you insulted me every single time.” I got up angrily, rushing towards the door.
And that's when something came under my feet, and I lunged forward. Damn, can the day get any worse!?
I saw Yuvaan Thakur rushing towards me, but before he could get a grip, I fell with a loud thud.
My butt. It hurts.
As I looked up, I saw him standing frozen, looking at me. Me? I followed his gaze and... What the hell!?
He was looking down at my cherry-printed panty. My skirt lifted up when I fell down.
“Pervert!!!” I shouted.
He quickly looked away, clearing his throat. “I-I d-didn't m-mean...” he stammered badly. “Your detention is over.” He quickly collected his things and left, leaving me flustered and embarrassed.
I also left quickly, fuming in anger. He has to face punishment for doing this to me.
Reaching to my car, I said to my driver to drive out of the campus; it was already night. I pulled over at a café because I needed to calm my mind before taking action. About an hour later, when I had calmed down, I went home with a masterminded plan.
“Yuvaan Thakur you're done”
I smirked.
