Summary

A fake relationship born out of pride. A cold stranger with warm hands. And a lie that turns into something dangerously real. Jake thought the worst thing that could happen was getting dumped by his too-perfect ex, Alex. He was wrong. The real worst thing? Being mocked for not moving on—and panicking so hard that he claims he has a new boyfriend. Only, he doesn’t. Then the doorbell rings. Standing there? A total stranger named Leo, holding takeout, ringing the wrong door by mistake. With no time to think, Jake grabs him, fakes a smile, and blurts, “Babe!” Now Leo—calm, cold, and 100% not here for drama—is playing pretend boyfriend in front of a very smug ex. But Leo surprises him. He plays along. Defends him. Holds his hand like he means it. As their fake relationship spirals into late-night conversations, jealous glances, and one steamy almost-kiss too many, Jake starts to wonder: What if the wrong door led to the right person?

Unexcepted Meeting

Life has a way of throwing the weirdest curveballs.

One day, you’re curled up in your boyfriend’s arms, dreaming of a cozy future—

And the next?

You’re standing on your front porch, gripping the hand of a complete stranger and introducing him as your boyfriend... just to make your ex jealous.

“Meet my boyfriend,” I said, letting the words roll out way too smoothly.

Alex blinked, eyes darting to the man beside me—confused, cautious.

“His name is...”

I turned, silently begging the mystery man to play along.

“Leo,” he said coolly, extending a hand.

It hovered there—rejected mid-air as Alex stared him down.

“Didn’t think you’d be this desperate to prove me wrong,” Alex scoffed. “Just admit it. You’re not over me. Come back.”

The arrogance. The nerve. My blood boiled.

“Sorry,” I said sharply. “I’m not like you. I have dignity. And I intend to keep it.”

That shut him up.

Leo stood quietly, still holding the takeout bag, still looking like the human version of an accidental plot twist.

“I’m sorry,” Leo said, his hand sliding firmly down my waist. “He’s mine now. And I don’t plan on giving him to anyone.”

He turned to Alex, tone clipped but calm.

“So if you don’t mind, we’d like a little quality time together.”

That voice—confident, commanding—made something stir in my chest. For a second, I didn’t know if this was fake anymore. Or if I was just that delusional.

Alex’s jaw clenched. He stepped forward, grabbed my hand, and yanked me away from Leo’s hold.

Just like that, the warmth vanished.

Cold air rushed in, bitter and too familiar.

“Stop playing along with his little game,” Alex snapped. “This has nothing to do with you.”

“I said—let go,” I muttered, trying to shove him back. But his grip only tightened, and his body blocked every inch of space I tried to reclaim.

Then I felt it—warmth again. A hand slid into mine.

Steady. Firm. Refusing to let go.

Leo.

“I think you’re crossing a line,” Leo said, voice low and sharp, his possessiveness settling into the room like thunderclouds.

“Let go of his hand.”

Without hesitation, he yanked my hand free from Alex’s grip and stepped between us, forcing Alex back with nothing but sheer energy.

“While I’m still being respectful,” Leo added, his tone cold but calm, “kindly see yourself out.”

For a moment, everything stopped.

Even the ticking of the clock felt muted—like the whole room was holding its breath.

Alex stared at him, then at me. His lips twitched with something—rage? disappointment? unfinished business.

But eventually, he turned and walked out.

Still, I knew this wasn’t over.

Alex never left anything unfinished. And this? This was just the opening act.

As the door clicked shut, Leo’s grip on my hand softened. He didn’t say anything right away. Just held it for a second longer—long enough to steady the storm in my chest.

Then he let go.

Leo stood beside me for a moment, eyes fixed on the now-closed door.

“I guess he won’t be coming back... at least for tonight.”

His voice was calm, almost casual—but it grounded me more than anything else had all day.

“Thank you,” I murmured, glancing at him. “For playing along.”

The room felt quieter now. Softer. Like the storm had passed and left only stillness behind.

He turned to me.

“Give me your phone.”

I blinked. “What?”

“Your phone.”

He held out his hand. No explanation. Just that unreadable Leo expression.

I handed it over. He typed for a few seconds, then handed it back.

“Here. That’s my number.”

Then he added, deadpan:

“If something like this ever happens again… don’t call me. Don’t text me. Just save it.”

I stared at the screen, caught between a laugh and confusion.

I didn’t know what to say. He’d just saved me from a full emotional meltdown—this was the least I could do. Still, his words hung in the air like a riddle I wasn’t meant to solve.

He nodded once and turned to go. No dramatic goodbye. No second glance.

I heard the front door close.

Then—

Vroom. Vroom.

And just like that… silence.
