Chapter 1

Un Iceberg de emociones


Sus manos se aferraban al volante, los nudillos blancos, mientras el rugido del motor pasaba de cero a cien en cuestión de segundos. La mandíbula rígida, tensa como piedra, contenía un mar de palabras que parecían a punto de desbordar por la tormenta que brillaba en sus ojos.


El camino estaba rodeado de árboles. Una llovizna suave golpeaba el parabrisas y la lista de Spotify sonaba como un susurro lejano, como si intentara suavizar lo inevitable.


De pronto, mi cuerpo se impulsó hacia adelante. El chirrido de las ruedas al frenar cortó el silencio como un grito metálico. Sentí que íbamos a estrellarnos en medio de aquella ruta desierta, perdida en la naturaleza.


—Bájate —su voz ronca no tembló, pero algo en ella era distinto. Había amargura, miedo… algo que yo no alcanzaba a comprender.


Me quedé inmóvil, sin entender qué pasaba por su cabeza.


—¡Ya! ¿Sos sorda o qué? —esta vez no había duda: no era el mismo que yo conocía.


El shock me paralizaba. Mi cuerpo era un bloque, mi mente una maraña de preguntas. Solo el segundo grito logró sacudirme. Apreté el celular entre mis manos, como si pudiera protegerme de algo, y abrí la puerta con torpeza.


Me bajé. Un segundo después, él volvió a acelerar como un desquiciado, el motor rugiendo mientras desaparecía en la carretera fantasma.


Me quedé sola, empapada por la llovizna, sin saber qué hacer. ¿Qué mierda había sido todo aquello? ¿Qué se suponía que debía hacer ahora?


Las dudas me inundaban, pero poco a poco el miedo se transformó en rabia. Que se jodiera. Que se estrellara contra un árbol. Que se pudriera el infeliz. Total, ¿qué más podía hacer yo? Solo caminé, descalza, sobre el pavimento húmedo y frío, con cada paso cargado de odio y desconcierto.
