Preface My life was a lie
Preface — I Am Not The Only Victim
A Note From The Author
I am not a writer. I am not a scholar. I am a survivor.
For fifty-four years, I lived a life that felt like a suit that didn’t fit. I was the problem child. I was the black sheep. I was the addict. My parents—good people who made a fatal mistake—spent a lifetime trying to fix me with medication and guilt. They thought if they loved me enough, I wouldn’t notice that I didn’t belong.
They were wrong.
But let me get one thing straight before you turn the page: This is not a pity party. I am not writing this so you can say, “Oh, poor Daniel.” I suffered, sure. That’s life. But I was not the only victim.
When you let a predator into your house, he doesn’t just bite one person. He poisons the water supply. The man I call “The Incurable Disease” didn’t just target me. He destroyed my mother, a woman who spent her final years torn between her husband and her son. He fractured his own family, turning nieces and nephews against each other with whispers and lies. He even poisoned his own bloodline—his son paid the ultimate price for his father’s twisted ideology.
This man was a wrecking ball. We aren’t talking about petty theft. We are talking about international money laundering, romance scams, wire fraud, and a trail of emotional debris that stretched from the back alleys of Argentina to a hidden safe in Dallas, Texas.
I wrote this book inside my house in Northern Michigan, safe from the cold, but surrounded by the wreckage of a massive crime scene. I wrote it for two reasons.
First, to expose the truth about a man who died a liar, a scammer, and a thief. He thought he could outsmart the banks, the government, and his family. But in the end, the truth outlived him.
Second, and most importantly, I wrote this for you. If you are reading this and you feel like the “crazy one” in your family, pay attention. If you suspect that someone in your life isn’t who they say they are, trust your gut.
You are not alone. There are many of us out here. We are the survivors of the narcissists, the scammers, and the toxic secrets.
My name is Daniel Ray. This is the story of how I lost everything, only to find the one thing he couldn’t steal.
