A thought from Glitter

Mob City is just another city that was created from the dust of a community going under. Money hungry men in government painted this city into a safe haven for greed and corruption. Made living in the city for the elite and the outskirts for families to live “good and cheap”. It was another way to keep the normal people, who lived here for years to keep their properties and things that made it feel like home but also some place for the drug dealers, pimps and drug addicts to hide out. I’ve lived here since I was 6 and I witnessed the change before my eyes, I saw what the change did to my parents. My abusive father getting a new job in the city and that’s all he thought about. Making money and satisfying his new girlfriend in their penthouse looking over all of Mob City, even all the way out here in Clemit Grove. Also known as the Grove. I watched my momma fall into her bottles of whiskey and never come out as it consumed her until her final breath when I was 18. My bastard father didn’t even bother to show up at the funeral. Eventually he forgot all about me too. He has his own new little family now. All I have is this house he was oh so gracious to leave me. I crave to leave the grove, to live in the city and become something more than a stripper dancing at Black Moon. Something more than a woman dancing on a pole, body covered in glitter. They say everything that glitter ain’t gold. I say everything that shines ain’t diamonds. Welcome to Mob City, welcome to the grove.
