Summary

She’s an assassin buried in D.C. politics, and he’s the man sent to tear her world apart. A steamy enemies-to-lovers political romantic suspense with dark heat and high stakes. Xolani Carter doesn’t do boyfriends. She doesn’t do attachments. She does covert ops at midnight, messy cleanups, and whatever it takes to protect her sister’s run for mayor. Then Garrett Blackwood moves in next door: tall, tattooed, dangerous, the kind of man who makes rules feel optional. When the cold metal at his throat didn’t faze him, something in Xolani shifted. She expected a target. She got obsession. Garrett came for dirt and found a war worth fighting. Secrets cut deeper than bullets, and trust can be the deadliest gamble in D.C. Politics, power, and desire collide, and when enemies become lovers, nobody walks away unchanged. Perfect if you crave: enemies-to-lovers romance, romantic suspense, antihero heroes, and political thrillers with a dark, sensual edge.

“Stop seeing other guys,” he says with that smirk.

I can’t stop myself from smiling at him. He’s exactly the type of man I’ve always wanted. Someone not afraid to claim, and not afraid to throw hands.

Garrett cleans up nice, and that tailored black suit makes him look so good. I kind of want to skip dinner and go straight back to my apartment.

Everyone’s talking, but it’s pretty quiet, just the sound of forks and glasses. No getting wasted or yelling. The jazz music is playing softly, and I’m swaying to it.

The cool air on the patio is so nice; it’s hitting my arms, and I can smell cologne and the food lingering in the air. The place has a perfect vibe, with soft golden lights and candles everywhere.

I haven’t been to this rooftop bar before, but it’s kind of romantic. If he’s trying to impress me, it’s working.

Couples are leaning in close to talk. The city skyline glows behind them, skyscraper windows glittering like scattered stars.

“I told you it was about work. He’s not even my type.”

“You almost got that man killed.”

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...

Sharda: I really enjoyed the pace of this story. It was mostly realistic, but It was tough to wrap my head around that a 13-year-old boy would be so intuitive and a friend to his mom. My 13-year-old daughter is super smart and says I am her best friend so I guess it is possible. I struggled because boys usu...
