Chapter VII – The First Silence

All Rights Reserved ©

Summary

After a quiet and unexpected meeting beneath the fading evening light, two strangers find themselves standing within the same fragile moment of silence. What once appeared as a distant shadow now becomes a real presence. Between twilight, white roses, and the trembling glow of a lonely street lamp, the distance between them slowly dissolves—not through words, but through awareness. In that quiet moment, something unseen begins to burn softly within the heart. Perhaps this is how a story truly begins—not with grand words, but with silence.

The First Silence

Before your dark, quiet eyes

I forgot what I was about to say.

Your lips curve slightly,

as if holding back an untold secret.

Your hair falls softly in the fading light,

gentle as a passing breeze.

You stand there—

not too close,

not too far,

just enough

to leave my heart

quietly uncertain.

For a moment

the evening seems to hesitate.

The light above the quiet street

does not fully belong to day,

nor yet to night.

Everything rests

within a thin border of twilight.

A lamp glows faintly

above the pavement,

its light falling softly

around your figure.

And for a brief second

I remember something—

the shape I once saw

within quiet moonlight,

that silent outline

that refused to disappear.

Now it stands here

before me.

Not a dream.

Not entirely real either.

As if a wandering shadow

from the sky

has slowly stepped down

into the human world.

The air carries

a faint fragrance—

something delicate,

like petals opening

in the quiet hours of night.

Near the edge of the path

a few white roses remain

in a small garden.

Their petals catch

the fading light,

holding a pale glow

that almost resembles moonlight.

Perhaps the wind

carried their scent here.

Or perhaps

the fragrance belongs

to the quiet presence

standing before me.

The world around us

continues as usual—

cars passing far away,

footsteps fading

along distant streets,

windows slowly lighting

one by one.

Yet here,

between you and me,

another silence grows.

Not empty.

Not cold.

But filled

with something waiting.

Your eyes remain calm,

holding a depth

that does not reveal itself easily.

For a moment

I wonder

whether you have always been here—

somewhere within the quiet corners

of my wandering days,

waiting

for this accidental crossing

of two uncertain paths.

The lamp flickers softly.

The roses move slightly

in the evening wind.

And in that quiet movement

something changes—

the distance between us

grows smaller,

not in steps,

but in awareness.

The shadow

I once watched in silence

now breathes

within the same air as I do.

And suddenly

the quiet uncertainty

inside my heart

begins to burn

with a small,

unexpected flame.

Perhaps this is how

a meeting truly begins—

not with thunder,

not with grand words,

but with a shadow

slowly becoming a presence,

a fragrance in the air,

a few white roses,

and two strangers

standing quietly

within the same

unexplained moment.

And somewhere

within the quiet evening,

the story

we have not yet spoken

has already begun.
